Kate is a fifth year Psychology major with a double minor in Social Entrepreneurship and International Affairs at Northeastern University. In the Spring of 2012 she did an international co-op in Cape Town, South Africa working for TSiBA Education at the Ignition Centre where she was able to design and develop new training materials in business planning and financial management for small business owners from townships. In May of that year, Kate participated in the Dominican Republic and Cuba Field Study Program to research a local microfinance organization, Esperanza. That Fall, she continued her involvement with the Social Enterprise Institute on campus by working as the Urban Engagement Coordinator for Citizen’s Schools. Kate recently returned from her final co-op where she spent 6 months working in Trujillo, Peru for Nisolo, a leather products company with the mission to provide long-term sustainable jobs to Peruvian shoemakers. Her principle responsibilities were to plan production and support operations. Kate is hoping begin building her career in the social enterprise space upon graduation in December 2014.
