Hannah Curtis

Bouvé College of Health Sciences

Hannah is currently undeclared but plans to pursue a major in Health Science and a minor in business as of Spring 2017. As someone who has held numerous leadership positions and jobs throughout high school, Hannah chose Northeastern for its incomparable Co-Op and exploratory program. Hannah is currently a member of Northeastern’s chapter of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority and holds a leadership position on their Standards Committee. She is actively involved in the Undergraduate Health Science Research Coalition, Northeastern’s chapter of Spoon University, and plans to participate in on-campus research. Hannah was the Co-Chair of the Overlook Foundation Junior Board, a group of students from different high schools which raised money for the Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey. Through the board’s efforts, over $40,000 was raised over two years and critical programs were established in the Behavioral Health and Eating Disorders departments. Hannah plans to continue her exploration for research and volunteer opportunities at Northeastern and surrounding hospitals. In her free time, Hannah enjoys exploring Boston and finding the best desserts.

Jack is pursuing a degree in Health Science with a concentration in Pre-Health studies, and minors in Psychology and Film Production. He has an interest in pursuing a Masters in Public Health, as well as attending a PA program postgrad. On campus, Jack has been involved with the theatre group Acting Out, the Council of University Programs, as well as Alpha Phi Omega, a chartering community-service fraternity. After spending his Freshman Summer as an Orientation Leader, Jack became passionate about helping others, working in teams, and developing his own leadership skills, which he hopes will benefit him in his future profession. In his spare time, Jack enjoys writing and directing independent films, as he has since he was young. He hopes to one day publish a novel of his own!

Jordan is pursuing a degree in Psychology with a minor in Professional Presentation. She is currently on Coop, where she works at the MIT Energy Initiative on their Education team. On campus, Jordan is involved in Chi Omega Fraternity, Husky Ambassadors, and is on the Eboard of Trash2Treasure as the Events Manager. Jordan spent her most recent summer break on a Dialogue of Civilizations to Ghana, where she studied the Ghanain education system and compared that to the education system of the United States. Jordan’s favorite Northeastern experience was her job as a Student Coordinator, where she trained and supervised the Orientation Leaders, learning event management, communication, and leadership skills, along with making lifelong friendships.

Julia is pursuing a degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Business Administration and will be graduating in May of 2020. After her graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in Experiential Marketing or Events. Julia is currently on Co-Op at the Jimmy Fund, working in the Philanthropy Division on the Event Fundraising Team. She has also Co- Oped previously at Education First, where she worked as a Content Marketer and wrote for EF’s blog, The Equator. During her time at Northeastern, Julia studied abroad at Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy where she studied history, photography, and cooking. Julia’s greatest passion is travel, and she has traveled to over 25 countries, including some favorites of Croatia, Scotland, and Romania. On campus, Julia has been involved with the Resident Student Association, and is a current member of the Senior Legacy Committee, serving as the Co-Chair for Event Planning.

Isaac is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering and intends to join the BS/MS program in the coming years. Outside of class, Isaac is involved with AerospaceNU, where he helps design and build custom solid fueled rockets, as well as Husky Ambassadors where he gives tours of campus and shares his student perspective of Northeastern in information sessions for visitors of campus. He also spent the summer after his first year as an Orientation Leader where he developed his passion for interacting, helping, and bonding with those around him to build strong communities of people. Isaac intends to enter the aerospace industry after graduation and contribute to the exploration of space.

Julie is pursuing a degree in Psychology with minors in Business Administration and Spanish and will be graduating in May of 2020. She is currently on her third co-op, working as a Recruiting & Talent Branding Co-op for Boston Consulting Group. She has done her two previous co-ops at the Boston Globe and Bluewolf, where she had the opportunity to live in New York City for 6 months. She has taken advantage of Northeastern’s global opportunities by studying abroad in Sydney, Australia for a semester and completing a Dialogue of civilizations in Argentina and Uruguay. On campus, she has served as an Orientation Leader and has been heavily involved in Husky Ambassadors, and currently serves as the marketing coordinator on the executive board for a large tutoring organization on campus called Nutells. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano and guitar, binge watching The Office, and exploring Boston’s cafe scene.

Divya is pursuing a master’s degree in Engineering Management and looks forward to a career in Data Analytics. She aspires to enhance the Northeastern experience and build an inclusive graduate community. At Northeastern, she is associated with the Graduate Student Government as the Vice President of Marketing and Outreach. She currently leads an initiative to introduce student life beyond academics and extend Graduate Student Government’s resources to Northeastern’s regional campuses. Divya is also a Graduate Student Ambassador for the College of Engineering, an experience she utilizes to extensively engage with prospective and admitted students. She enjoys representing her program and helping other students throughout their transition process at University. In her free time, Divya likes volunteering for non-profit organizations and reading.

Kathan is a prospective PhD candidate and Masters’ student in College of Engineering at Northeastern who is researching on implementing various Machine Learning/Computer Vision Algorithms towards improving health care. He Has previously worked on projects with companies like Biogen and Philips to work on various health related issues. His recent work on detection of Autism among kids has been accepted as a research Paper at IEEE conference. Apart from Working on Research, Kathan focuses on developing community wide awareness related to use of technology in making life easier. He visits meetups and high-school technical festivals to make students aware about the power of Artificial Intelligence and its application. He believes that in present world, correct information exchange is a way to uplift society towards a better future. He plans to start a podcast soon to talk with like minded people about the same process.

Jessica is pursuing a degree in Business with a concentration in Finance and potential minors in Chinese or Writing. Through her various travels ranging from Europe to Asia to South America, she desires to gain as much knowledge as possible concerning the various geographic locations and cultures around the world. She chose Northeastern in hopes of further expanding her global experiences as well as for its renowned co-op program. Jessica is actively involved in Northeastern’s Finance and Investment Club, Real Estate Club, and Knitting Club. As a volunteer for the Red Cross for the past four years, she is excited to help grow the newly founded chapter at Northeastern. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys taking advantage of Marino’s group fitness classes and exploring her artistic side through painting and printmaking.

Environmental Geology and Chemistry, College of Science

Michelle is an Environmental Geology and Chemistry major. Her hopes to use her interest in the environment, chemistry, and renewable energy to work on fuel cells and batteries and is involved in research on fuel cells at NUCRET, a lab led by Professor Sanjeev Mukherjee. Since Michelle loves to travel, she has attended two dialogues of civilizations, one in Spain and one in Iceland. She also participated in a research study abroad program in Spain where she synthesized a polymer that can be used as a proton exchange membrane in fuel cells. On campus, Michelle has led and/or participated in alternative spring break trips all four years. In her free time she likes to run, hike, and siiiiing!

Cybersecurity, Khoury College of Computer Sciences

Ruixue Chen is a graduate student achieving a master’s degree in Cybersecurity. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, she worked in the payment industry as a software solution developer. Dealing with the current security concerns in E-commerce as part of her work inspired her to pursue a master’s degree in Cybersecurity. Ruixue has been playing instruments for 20 years. She used to play percussion and piano in her high school orchestra and once performed in a music festival in Germany. In her spare time, she enjoys working out and writing. She had won a gold award of Bing Xin National Literature Award and published an article talking about how fast food restaurants affect Chinese younger generations as her social science research. When asked about her motivation of writing, she said she preferred enjoying in the world she created in her own words.

Carolina is currently a third-year at DMSB pursuing a degree in Economics and Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing. She was born and grew up in the capital of Brazil and moved to Boston for college after falling in love with the city during a school trip for a Model UN conference. On-campus, she is involved in the leadership of her sorority, Sigma Delta Tau, the Brazilian Student Association, and works actively in the Peer Tutoring Center as a tutor of Economics, Computer Science, Journalism, Psychology, and Portuguese. In her free time, she enjoys finding new ways to stay active and working out, making fun recipes at home and concomitantly looking for the best new eats around Boston.

Industrial Engineering and Data Analytics, College of Engineering

Eric Halpern is pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering and a minor in data analytics. He is the president for the Brazilian Student Association at Northeastern University and a Director at BRASA, a non-profit serving as the largest network of Brazilian students studying outside of Brazil. During his first two years at Northeastern, he had internship experiences working with three different tech companies in Brazil and Argentina, and is currently on co-op in a pharmaceutical company in Cambridge. In 2019, Eric was one of the keys students responsible for organizing and bringing to Northeastern the largest Brazilian undergraduate conference in the world (BRASA Summit) with over 500 students and 40 high-profile speakers from all over the US, Canada and even Europe.

Lily is currently a fourth-year nursing student in the five-year nursing program. Through the co-op program and her clinical work, she could not be happier to have discovered her passion for pediatric orthopedic/trauma nursing. Lily grew up nearby in Brookline and chose Northeastern because of its highly-acclaimed nursing program and its location in the mecca of medicine, Boston. She began her Northeastern experience abroad through the NUin Program at the University College Dublin in Ireland. Returning back to Boston, Lily began working on Bouvé’s Health in Motion Van. She then became involved in the NUin Ambassador Program, Bouvé Ambassador Program, NU Student Nurses Association (President-elect), Global Medical Brigades – Panama, and the Bouvé College Development Program. Through these activities, she developed leadership skills and an eagerness for motivating prospective students as well as enhancing the nursing community. Last year, Lily was honored to be a recipient of the Huntington 100. Additionally, she is a Student Representative for the School of Nursing Evaluation Committee and works in the Goldstein Simulation Lab as well as the Bouvé Office of Student Services. Outside of Northeastern, Lily is apprenticing to be a Certified Laser Technician to remove tattoos and she enjoys skiing, rock climbing, snowboarding, and kayaking.

Jessica is a business administration major with concentrations in entrepreneurship and marketing. At Northeastern, she has had a full experience in experiential learning. So far, she has studied abroad in three countries: Greece, Australia, and South Korea. She has learned a total of five languages and been to over 17 countries in her travels.

Jessica completed first co-op at TJX Inc, working in the marketing services team. Her second co-op is at New England Venture Capital Association, working with start-ups in the local Boston area. On campus, Jessica is involved in the professional fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi and the Taekwondo Club. In her free time, Jessica loves creating social media campaigns, going viral once on Facebook.

Demi is a third year, first generation Political Science student that sincerely believes in Northeastern’s values of lifelong learning and global enrichment. She believes that the most important thing a young adult can do is utilize their opportunities to help and lead others. Demi recently finished completing two years volunteering in Jumpstart: a division of the AmeriCorps, and currently serves as the Vice President of External Relations for the Northeastern Panhellenic Council. She is a proud sister of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, enjoys kayaking, and has a pet pig named Sugar.

Maryam is pursing a degree in Nursing. After completing her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, she hopes to further her studies towards becoming a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

Maryam began her involvement with the Northeastern community early on in her student career. During her freshman year, she served as a peer mentor in the Bouve Fellows program, a student leader for the Center for Spirituality Dialogue and Service Office, a member of the Northeastern University Student Nurses Association, and interfaith coordinator for the Islamic Society of Northeastern University. Through her diverse involvement, Maryam had the opportunity to foster strong relationships with her peers, faculty, and staff. Eager to continue serving her community, she sought out new avenues for involvement. Currently, Maryam is in her second year as a residential assistant and co-president of the Islamic Society of Northeastern working closely with diverse student populations to create supportive spaces where all can learn, reflect, and grow free of judgement.

In her free time, she enjoys running along the Charles River and trying out new coffee shops in the Boston area.

Ryan is enrolled at Northeastern University pursuing a master’s degree in Engineering Project Management and a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.  He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 19 and served for 6 years as a nuclear machinist’s mate onboard the fast attack submarine USS New Mexico, where he discovered his passion for the engineering field.  After completing his enlistment, he enrolled in the College of Engineering at Northeastern University in 2018 utilizing the GI Bill and Northeastern’s Yellow Ribbon Program, and in the summer of 2019 was accepted into the school’s MS/BS program.  Beyond the his course load, Ryan also works in Webster’s Green Nanomedicine Lab on campus, researching and studying the potential medicinal benefits of nanoparticles in combatting cancer.

Alex is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration with dual concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship and a minor in Business Analytics. During his time at Northeastern, Alex has had the opportunity to study abroad in Dublin, Ireland through The N.U.in program, and has since gone on to participate in multiple dialogues, such as the Exploring Design Thinking and Business Models program in Seattle, Washington. On campus, Alex is actively involved in Northeastern’s Finance and Investment Club and Entrepreneurs Club and participated in the Husky Startup Challenge in 2017. In his spare time, Alex enjoys baseball, swimming, and traveling.

Electrical Engineering with a minor in Math

Daniil is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in math. He has an interest in pursuing a Masters degree in Robotics and develop further to work with Artificial Intelligence implementations. Daniil has been tinkering with electronics as long as he remembers himself. Growing up in Russia, Daniil built up his technical knowledge by helping and then working part time in a Physics lab in a University near his home. On campus, Daniil continued to be part of a scientific community participating in Northeastern Robotics Club, Hyperloop One Project and Lead360. After completing study abroad semester in Lund, Sweden, Daniil delved into renewable energetics advocating for its usage in his home country. In his spare time, Daniil enjoys coding with friends and long rides on his skateboard.

Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in French

Sarah is a third-year student studying Behavioral Neuroscience who plans to attend medical school in the fall of 2021. She also has a minor in French language. On campus, Sarah is very involved with the tour guide association Husky Ambassadors, including a leadership position where she is involved with hiring and training new tour guides. She is also a member of NUStage, Northeastern’s all-student musical theater company, where she has appeared as a performer onstage as well as Assistant Director of a production in The Hunchback of Notre Dame in the spring of 2019. In her free time, Sarah enjoys running and volunteering weekly at Massachusetts General Hospital in one of their outpatient infusion units.

Babatunde (Tunde) Aideyan received a BA in Psychology from Emory University, and an MA in Counseling from Northwestern University, and is currently a second year counseling psychology doctoral student working under Dr. Jessica Edwards George. Tunde’s background consists of several years of work experience in both data analysis and clinical behavioral/mental health treatment. While his ultimate goal is to obtain psychology licensure, Tunde also aspires to investigate data science methods for improving behavioral health diagnostic and treatment outcomes. While at Northeastern, Tunde has helped support and direct a number of student led initiatives in his role as the executive vice president of the Graduate Student Government. He strives to accomplish important objectives and innovations through relationship building and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Cameron is pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence. On campus, Cameron is the Vice President of AerospaceNU, one of the university’s largest engineering organizations, where he oversees over 150 members and 6 technical projects ranging from high powered rocketry to autonomous aerial vehicles. Cameron is also a 3-time Teaching Assistant for the Fundamentals of Computer Science 1 class where he teaches a strong foundational skill set with a focus on structured design, development, and communication. Cameron has a general passion for space exploration and hopes to one day see humans colonize mars. During his free time Cameron enjoys everything related to getting outdoors and is always willing to go exploring.

Patrick is currently pursuing a BSBA with a concentration in finance and accounting. Previously he was in the United States army where he served as a medic for four years and obtained his Associates of Science in Health Science. After the military, Patrick then served as a Cultural Ambassador for the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program for Young Professionals for a year in Germany. There, he was able to live with host families, travel to a dozen countries, and speak with political leaders from around the world. On campus, he finds himself using his leadership and global experience to guide and mentor Northeastern Students as a newly appointed Resident Assistant. In his free time, he likes to go hiking up in the mountains, exercise, play guitar, and visit comedy clubs.

Je Woo is currently majoring in Political Science and International Affairs. He has an interest in international security policy with a concentration in the Asian Pacific. He is from South Korea, but was raised in Beijing, China. Je Woo is currently involved in the Student Government Association as a special interest senator representing the International Relations Council (Northeastern’s Model United Nations team) to the general senate and serves as the newly appointed Director of Social Advocacy within the Student Affairs Sub-Committee. Off-campus he travels with the Model UN team to compete against other schools and loves engaging in model debate. He also loves musical theatre, hip hop, and gaming in his free time. Je Woo hopes to further his campus-wide advocacy through this position and is very excited to work with such a large group of awesome individuals.

Jessica Jha is a 3rd year Behavioral Neuroscience student, with minors in Biochemistry and Global Health, from Berlin, Connecticut. When she is not in class, she is either volunteering at Brigham and Women’s hospital, or singing in Pitch, Please!, which is an all female-identifying a capella group on campus, for which she is the Treasurer and President. Jessica also founded and is the President of Northeaster’s chapter of Doctors Without Borders, is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and she is currently training to be a group fitness instructor at Marino. Post-graduation, she is interested in pursuing an MD/MBA.

Kefiloe is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Neuroscience, and a potential Master’s in Biotechnology through Northeastern’s Plus One Program. On campus, Kefiloe is involved in the College of Science Diversity Advisory Council, the Black Engineering Student’s Society (BESS), Northeastern University’s Intervarsity Christian Club and the National Black Student’s Association. Through the Neurons Club, Kefiloe is a mentor for first year Behavioral Neuroscience students. She assists the students to become familiar with the Neuroscience major and its expectations, and with adjusting to the transition to Northeastern University. Additionally, Kefi’s passion to work with and support children has led her to volunteer in tutoring students at John D’O’bryant STEM High School in Roxbury. This experience has given her an appreciation of the opportunities and rewards in the development of youth. Through her interest in neuroscience, Kefiloe hopes, in the future, to pursue research on the long-term effects of childhood trauma on cognition among the adult population. Through her experiences abroad, volunteering at orphanages and schools for disadvantaged kids in countries such as Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe, Kefiloe is gaining skills that will one day help her to open her own orphanage providing resources and support to children who have experienced trauma.

Jordan is a second year student pursuing a degree in Health Sciences with minors in Spanish and Business. On campus, Jordan is involved in Behind the Smile, a mental health and suicide prevention organization that focuses on raising awareness and fundraising. He is also a member of HEAT, the Husky Environmental Action Team, that takes part in many environmentally friendly initiatives across campus. Jordan’s favorite experience through Northeastern was being able to study abroad on a Dialogue of Civilizations in Peru. While abroad, Jordan studied Spanish language and culture which contributed to his minor in Spanish. The worldwide connections Northeastern offers is one of the reasons he chose to attend. When he has spare time, Jordan likes trying new food around Boston and studying in local coffee shops.

Vish is pursuing a degree in Bioengineering with a concentration in Biomedical Devices and Bioimaging. He hopes to pursue a career in researching and developing prosthetics. On campus, Vish is involved in Survivor Northeastern, Husky Ambassadors, and the Service-Learning Program. He is also an undergraduate researcher in Professor Bajpayee’ s Molecular Bioelectrostatics & Drug Delivery Laboratory where he is currently working on a project to assess the viability of positively charged drug carriers for the delivery of drugs to cartilage. In his spare time, Vish enjoys playing video games and beating escape rooms with his friends. He hopes to one day be able to create and develop his own escape room as a side project.”

Joe is pursuing a degree in Bioengineering, with a possible concentration in either biomechanics or cell and tissue engineering. Specifically, he is interested in robotics paired with biotechnology and hopes to achieve a professional goal of establishing his own business. On campus, Joe works as an Honors Program Assistant and is also the acting Diversity & Outreach chair for Northeastern’s chapter of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, applying his strong interest in achieving social justice. Furthermore, Joe has a strong passion for fitness and nutrition and is actively looking for ways to train his body just as hard as his mind. In his free time, Joe loves to go to the gym, play sports, and watch movies!

Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain and minors in Data Analytics and Sustainable Business Practices

Cassie is in her second year here at Northeastern, pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain Management and minors in Data Analytics and Sustainable Business. Throughout high school, Cassie was very active in her community through local and district student council management, organizing leadership activities and conferences for her StuCo peers and also participating in local community service activities. She continues to organize and plan events with Alpha Chi Omega, a sorority on campus dedicated to raising Domestic Violence Awareness and promoting “Real Strong Women”. Additionally, she is active with the student run musical theater group NEUStage as well as the Women in Finance group. Outside of Northeastern, she allocates time to volunteer at Camp Sunshine as a counselor in Casco, Maine. This last summer, she had the opportunity to intern with Dell Technologies in the Global Operations and Product Offer team and she hopes to enter her first co-op next fall, bringing the value of her existing skills and using her drive and collaboration capabilities to further grow those skills while bringing value to the company.

Eva is pursuing a degree in Pharmacy through the PharmD program, with a minor in Psychology. She is passionate about the future of personalized healthcare, and hopes to one day pursue research on drug and alcohol addiction. Eva is currently a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority and holds a leadership position as Coordinator of Fundraising. She is president of Northeastern University Dance Marathon, which raises money for Boston Children’s Hospital and is in its first year as an official organization. Eva is also a Bouve Fellow for the pharmacy program, a role which has given her a passion for peer mentoring.
