Will Angell-James graduated with a combined major of Philosophy and Computer Science as well as a Psychology minor. He completed a co-op as Operation Design Manager at the Gallery 360. While at Northeastern, Will was very involved in student life – he was the President of EMNU (Electronic Music at Northeastern University) and committed himself to many other facets of life at Northeastern. These included rowing on the men’s Varsity team (a division one athletic team), playing rugby for the men’s team, writing for Huntington News and DJing from time to time at campus events. In his spare time, Will likes to ski, produce music, write articles and keep on top of political affairs at home and abroad.

Corinne Bowers

Hometown: Richmond, Virginia
Corinne is pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. She completed her first co-op as an Assistant Engineer with Turner Construction and is currently on her second co-op at Simpson, Gumpertz & Heger, working in structural engineering and building technology. She is actively involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers and will serve as its President starting the fall of 2016.

She also competes nationally with the Women’s Powerlifting Team and has conducted research on critical infrastructure resilience at the Northeastern Structural Testing of Resilient and Sustainable Systems (STReSS) Laboratory. She has participated in several international programs through Northeastern, including an Alternative Spring Break to Costa Rica and a Dialogue of Civilizations about climate change in India. Corinne is a University Scholar and is actively involved in both the Honors and the Scholars programs. In her remaining spare time, she enjoys basketball, whitewater kayaking, and cooking new foods for her roommates.organizations.

Lauren is pursuing a dual degree in International Affairs and Political Science with a minor in Spanish. She transferred to Northeastern after her freshman year seeking a more challenging and immersive educational experience. Since coming to Northeastern, she’s dedicated her studies to issues of international relations and diplomacy, and has a strong interest in public and foreign policy. She completed her first co-op with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund as part of the Jimmy Fund Golf team, helping to raise funds through charitable golf events. On campus, Lauren is involved in the Husky Ambassadors program, CSSH’s undergraduate research journal, Nuance, and plays broomball on the side. She also holds part-time jobs with Northeastern’s Visitor Center and Center of Student Involvement. In her free time, she enjoys going to Northeastern hockey games, playing music, and pizza.

Derek Chen

Hometown: San Jose, California
Derek is pursuing a degree in Business with dual concentrations in Management Information Systems and Supply Chain Management. He completed two of his three co-ops with the Boston Consulting Group and MFS Investment Management, and interned with the Lam Research Corporation and a dating app startup. He also served as a student researcher for the Asian American Center, where he was an At-Large Representative for the Pan Asian-American Council. Derek is active in the Northeastern community through the Delta Sigma Pi professional fraternity, Pep Band and Symphony Orchestra, Club Badminton Team, and EMPOWER Student Initiative. He has also participated in two study abroad experiences with the London School of Economics and the American College of Thessaloniki, and has traveled to over 20 countries. In his free time, he enjoys napping, watching other people play video games, and staring at his phone for hours on end.

Hannah Curtis

Hannah is currently undeclared but plans to pursue a major in Health Science and a minor in business as of Spring 2017. As someone who has held numerous leadership positions and jobs throughout high school, Hannah chose Northeastern for its incomparable Co-Op and exploratory program. Hannah is currently a member of Northeastern’s chapter of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority and holds a leadership position on their Standards Committee. She is actively involved in the Undergraduate Health Science Research Coalition, Northeastern’s chapter of Spoon University, and plans to participate in on-campus research. Hannah was the Co-Chair of the Overlook Foundation Junior Board, a group of students from different high schools which raised money for the Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey. Through the board’s efforts, over $40,000 was raised over two years and critical programs were established in the Behavioral Health and Eating Disorders departments. Hannah plans to continue her exploration for research and volunteer opportunities at Northeastern and surrounding hospitals. In her free time, Hannah enjoys exploring Boston and finding the best desserts.

Jack is pursuing a degree in Health Science with a concentration in Pre-Health studies, and minors in Psychology and Film Production. He has an interest in pursuing a Masters in Public Health, as well as attending a PA program postgrad. On campus, Jack has been involved with the theatre group Acting Out, the Council of University Programs, as well as Alpha Phi Omega, a chartering community-service fraternity. After spending his Freshman Summer as an Orientation Leader, Jack became passionate about helping others, working in teams, and developing his own leadership skills, which he hopes will benefit him in his future profession. In his spare time, Jack enjoys writing and directing independent films, as he has since he was young. He hopes to one day publish a novel of his own!

Brendan DeVoue

Brendan is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Psychology. He completed his first co-op at Sanofi Genzyme working on the marketing team in the Multiple Sclerosis business unit. Brendan chose to attend Northeastern because he wanted to learn by immersing himself in different communities and cultures through the schools’ local and global opportunities, including the N.U.in Greece program. Brendan hopes to pursue a career in marketing and ultimately open and operate a non-profit organization to benefit up-and-coming leaders who want to make a change. Within the husky community, Brendan is an executive board member and player on the Mens’ Tennis Team, a mentor in the Legacy Mentoring & Leadership Program, and is involved with the N.U.in Alumni Ambassadors, the Black Student Association, and Fellowship and Manhood. He also recently became a member of the Professional Tennis Registry and is an independently operated tennis instructor in Boston.

Deirdre Dunham

Deirdre Dunham

Hometown: Saratoga Springs, New York
Deirdre is a member of the first class of Bioengineers at Northeastern University; she is pursuing a degree in Biomechanics with a minor in Computer Science. She completed her first co-op at Corindus Vascular Robotics working on software development, and is currently on her second co-op at Farm Design in Hollis, New Hampshire. Deirdre is interested in medical device design, prosthetics and the field of biomimicry. At Northeastern she performs research working with bomb detecting biomimetic robotic lobsters in the Ayers Lab. There she designs, fabricates, and tests antennae for the robot to functionally be able to see its surroundings. Although she has not had a chance to pursue her academics abroad through Northeastern, Deirdre follows her global passions independently, most recently spending a month traveling in Japan and taking on the quest to receive Irish dual citizenship. Deirdre is a founding member of the Northeastern University Association of Gaming Enthusiasts, an active member of Husky Ambassadors, and the Biomedical Engineering Society. She also plays the cello with the Northeastern University Symphony Orchestra. In her fleeting free time, Deirdre enjoys tackling side engineering and sewing projects as well as drinking copious amounts of tea.

Elisa is pursuing degrees in Biology and Economics and is considering minors in Mathematics or Information Science. She chose to attend Northeastern because of the diversity of global experiences available. After graduation, she hopes to join the Peace Corps and is considering going to medical school. Elisa is actively involved in NU Stage Musical Theater Company, for which she will be the Treasurer beginning in the Fall of 2017. On campus, Elisa is also a Husky Ambassador and conducts research involving the relationship between mitochondria dispersal and calcium-signaling in the spermatheca of C. elegans in the Cram Laboratory. Last summer, she went on a Dialogue of Civilizations to India, studying Climate Change Science and Policy. She is currently looking to forward to an Alternative Spring Break to Havana, Cuba, for which she will be a team leader. A University Scholar, Elisa is actively involved in the Scholars Program and enjoys volunteering, painting, singing, and hiking in her free time.

William is pursuing a combined degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. He is currently searching for his first co-op, preferably doing software development in the Boston area. William chose Northeastern for its expertise at incorporating real-world experiences into learning. To capitalize on this, he has completed two service-learning courses. The first was at the Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers helping to teach math to high schoolers. The other was in conjunction with the Massachusetts Promise Fellowship working with a team of his peers to revamp the MPF website and the system used to manage its content. On campus, William is also a Husky Ambassador, Part-time Admissions Assistant, and a member of the Student Conduct Board. He hopes to find some way to combine his technological skills and leadership capabilities to have an impact on an increasingly technology-driven world. In his free time, he likes to play games with his friends, learn about the history of Great Britain, and eat Indian food.

Fenna is pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in International Affairs. She just completed her first co-op at Dow Chemical Company in Germany working to improve the quality of brine in the chlor-alkali industry. She grew up on three continents and has developed a passion for travelling. She has completed two Dialogues of Civilizations, one to Italy and another to Japan. Fenna is an active member of the Northeastern community and is involved with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Enabling Engineering, the Honors Program, the Civic Engagement Program (CEP), the sorority Alpha Epsilon Phi, as well as the engineering honors society Tau Beta Pi. In her free time, she likes to catch up with her friends, listen to Taylor Swift and explore the beautiful city of Boston.

Saloni is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with dual concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship. Saloni has been a competitive swimmer since she learnt what competition meant and has competed nationally and internationally since a young age. Saloni grew up in India and was an exchange student in Washington, DC during high school. Her exchange experience has helped her make deep connections all around the world which makes her understand and relate with people coming from varied sets of beliefs and ideas. She is passionate about working with wild life conservation and has already worked in Kenya, understanding the finer details that go in wild animal rescue and rehabilitation.

In the Northeastern community, Saloni is a Husky Ambassador, an EMPOWER fellow, a member of SOAL (the step dance team), and the Women’s Water polo team. She occasionally also likes to participate in disputations and debates and learning about interfaith.

In her free time, she likes globetrotting on every occasion that she gets and learning about different cuisines, cultures, and dances from all around the world. She also loves learning languages and hopes to add many more to the seven that she already converses in!

Jamie Kotcher

Jamie is pursuing a degree in Psychology, with potential minors in behavioral neuroscience and interaction design. As someone who is fascinated with how the human brain works (but isn’t entirely sure what she wants to do with that interest), she chose Northeastern for its flexible psych and phenomenal coop programs. At Northeastern, Jamie is actively involved with Husky Ambassadors, the Honors Program, and Club Rugby in addition to working for the Women’s Basketball Team as a student manager and participating in a directed study in Professor Kim’s Causal Cognition Lab.

She spent her first summer on a dialogue to Perú, where she appreciated the opportunity to immerse herself in the culture and to improve her spanish fluency. Jamie’s goal is to gain global experiences, something that she strongly believes Northeastern can help her accomplish.

Julie is pursuing a degree in Psychology with minors in Business Administration and Spanish. She is grateful to Northeastern’s co-op program for providing her with an opportunity to explore potential career paths combining the disciplines of business and psychology. She is currently on her first co-op in the Human Resources department at The Boston Globe. Julie’s favorite Northeastern experience has been her time as an Orientation Leader, during which she helped welcome incoming freshmen to the community and gained critical leadership and collaboration skills. On campus, she has just completed her role as a Research Assistant in Professor Kim’s Causal Cognition Lab. Currently, she is involved in Husky Ambassadors and Council for University Programming, and is on the Executive Board for NuTells, serving as its Marketing Coordinator. Julie spent most of her winter break on an unforgettable Northeastern Birthright trip to Israel, and is eagerly anticipating a Dialogue of Civilizations trip to Argentina this summer. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar and piano, and loves to visit Boston’s coffee shops.

Hometown: Downington, Pennsylvania
Kyle is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Business. After completing his first internship at Sikorsky Global Helicopters near his hometown in the suburbs of Philadelphia, he knew that Northeastern’s experience-based model for education was what he wanted to pursue. He completed his first co-op at Digital Lumens, an intelligent high-bay LED lighting manufacturer in Boston as a lighting designer and Application Engineer. Outside of academics, Kyle is involved with the Northeastern Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, and Wind Ensemble, where he plays trombone. He is also involved in the Husky Ambassadors, providing tours and outreach to prospective students. His remaining free time is taken up doing everything from building computers to skiing and exploring the city of Boston. Kyle hopes to one day combine his passions for engineering and design with a desire to make connections and meet people from around the globe. For the Winter-Spring semester of 2017, he will be studying abroad at the University College of Dublin, taking classes in engineering, business, and French.

Renee is pursuing a degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Business Administration. A Communication Studies Junior Scholar, she enjoys the diverse areas of study her major encompasses. Renee is currently interning in Corporate Relations at the Boston Ballet. Previously, she completed her first co-op in Marketing at the New England Conservatory and worked in Northeastern’s Office of Gift Planning. She hopes to use these experiences to pursue a career in non-profit development. On campus, Renee is actively involved in Husky Ambassadors, Northeastern Choral Society, and Northeastern Hillel, in addition to serving as a tutor in Student Athlete Support Services and as a research assistant on Dr. Michael Hoppmann’s Tweet Etymology Success Study. In her free time, Renee enjoys taking advantage of Boston’s many theatre, music, and dance offerings, and exploring restaurants around the city. She looks forward to traveling to Barcelona on a Dialogue of Civilizations this summer.

Patrick is pursuing a degree in Health Sciences with a concentration in Pre-Health Studies. Currently, he is uncertain of what level of clinician he wants to become, but he has a strong interest in emergency care and trauma. He completed a Dialogue of Civilizations in London, England comparing their health care system with the one in the US.

He is currently applying for his first co-op for Fall 2016 where he hopes to be placed in a Boston-area hospital. Within the Northeastern community, he is actively involved with Husky Ambassadors, Bouvé Buddies, Bouvé Ambassadors and Northeastern Downhillers. He is passionate about mentorship and helping to empower others to find all of the potential resources they can utilize to complete their dreams. He also volunteers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital every week in the Outpatient Infusion clinic. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer as well as any outdoors activities with particulars to skiing and hiking.

Alex is pursuing a double major degree between Media and Screen Studies with English. Born in Montreal, Canada and raised in both the United States and Paris, France. He chose Northeastern because of its reputable co-op program. Alex has completed his first of three co-op cycles in New York City at an advertising agency.

On campus, Alex is a part of the Husky Ambassador program, involved in Greek Life, and a member of Council of University Programs. During his free time Alex enjoys photography, exploring Boston and searching for new restaurants. In the future, he hopes to work with an advertising agency in either Boston or New York and to travel the world.

Jessica is pursuing a degree in Business with a concentration in Finance and potential minors in Chinese or Writing. Through her various travels ranging from Europe to Asia to South America, she desires to gain as much knowledge as possible concerning the various geographic locations and cultures around the world. She chose Northeastern in hopes of further expanding her global experiences as well as for its renowned co-op program. Jessica is actively involved in Northeastern’s Finance and Investment Club, Real Estate Club, and Knitting Club. As a volunteer for the Red Cross for the past four years, she is excited to help grow the newly founded chapter at Northeastern. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys taking advantage of Marino’s group fitness classes and exploring her artistic side through painting and printmaking.
