SSEHRI researchers Prof. Steven Scyphers and PhD Candidate Kiera O’Donnell are highlighted in the lead article, “Can Nature Reduce the Damage Caused by Hurricanes?” in the Northeastern News. In the article, Steven and Keira describe the resilience of natural barriers to hurricane damage, such as marshes and wetlands (vs. engineered barriers), as well as their focus on the experiences of residents who are impacted by these natural disasters.
