Executive Professor; Entrepreneur in Residence; Leader of the Investment Network

Bob Lentz joined Northeastern University in July 2012 as the Entrepreneur in Residence for the Center for Entrepreneurship Education. In addition, since 2009 he has been the Chairman of the board of advisors for IDEA, Northeastern’s student-run venture accelerator, and is on the advisory board for Northeastern’s Center for Research Innovation.

Bob has extensive executive management and entrepreneurial experience in the technology industry having been involved in the growth and eventual sale of a number of successful technology ventures.

Prior to joining Northeastern, Bob had been consulting to technology companies, primarily as their Interim CEO. Prior to his consulting, he served as CEO and President of PermissionTV, an innovative online video platform company. Bob held the senior executive positions at OATSystems, Inc.; the recognized leader in radio-frequency identification (RFID) frameworks, now part of Checkpoint; and at eRoom Technology; a Web-based collaborative workspace that enables distributed teams to work together more efficiently; sold to Documentum Inc. and now part of EMC Corp.

Bob was a member of the management team responsible for the turnaround at Xionics Document Technologies, which became the leading provider of digital page processing software and technology for the office market and sold to Oak Technology. His experience also includes executive management positions at Individual Inc., an Internet information services company that merged with Desktop Data to become NewsEdge Corporation, Appex Corporation, a software company serving the cellular telephone industry that was sold to Electronic Data Systems, and Raster Technologies Inc., provider of high performance 3-d graphics systems. Bob started his career with Arthur Young & Co. (now Ernst&Young) leaving as a manager to join one of his clients, GCA Corporation.

Bob is a member of the board of directors of Monotype Imaging Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: TYPE), Woburn, MA, and has served on the board of several private companies including eCopy, Inc., Nashua, NH, (sold to Nuance). He holds an MBA from Babson College and a BS in Business from Northeastern University.
