To be eligible for NU Intern Housing, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older for the duration of their stay on campus
  • Enrolled as a matriculated student at an accredited college or university for the duration of their stay on campus
  • Employed in an internship or supervised research program in the Boston area for the summer.

Please note: age, enrollment, and employment will be verified through the application process. Also, a minimum 8-week stay is required. No exceptions can be made to the eligibility criteria.

Applications Are Closed

Intern Housing applications for summer 2022 are currently closed. Northeastern University has reached capacity for overnight summer housing for this year.


Housing Payment


Upon verification of applicant eligibility, housing invoices will be generated based on your scheduled length of stay and type of accommodation (rates here). The invoice will be emailed to you, along with the due dates for the deposit and full payment and links to the NU Intern Housing payment portal. Northeastern accepts all major credit cards.

Registration Fee

A registration fee will be included in all housing invoices. Rates are as follows:

  • Early Bird Registration (through 3/30/22): $25
  • Regular Registration (3/31/22 or after): $50

Full Payment

Your room is not confirmed until paid in full. Payments must be received by May 1st, 2022. For those who apply after May 1st, 2022, your payment must be received at least 3 business days prior to move in.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Housing payments may be partially refundable in accordance with the following schedule:

  • Cancellation notification 60 days or more prior to scheduled arrival – 100% refundable, excluding registration fee
  • Cancellation notification 30 days to 59 days prior to scheduled arrival – 50% refundable, excluding registration fee
  • Cancellation notification less than 30 days prior to scheduled arrival – 25% refundable, excluding registration fee
  • After you check into your room – 0% refund will be issued


Gym memberships and meal plans must be purchased separately. Instructions on how to purchase such amenities will be included in housing invoice emails. Please note that gym memberships and meal plans are non-refundable.

Housing Assignment

NU Intern Housing participants will be informed of their specific apartment, bedroom and mailbox assignments via email only after full payment is received. Prior to scheduled arrival, NU Intern Housing participants will be provided with contact information for some or all of their assigned roommates and/or apartment-mates.

Our program will not change any housing or roommate assignments unless there is a medical, religious or intern security reason.
