Register Today for the 2020 Women of Color in the Academy Conference!
Registration for the 4th Annual Women of Color in the Academy Conference, on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Northeastern University is now open. This year’s theme is Raising Our Voices. Strengthening the Academy and will feature a variety of workshops and presentations, as well as keynotes from Paula A. Johnson, President of Wellesley College and Helen Elaine Lee, Professor of Comparative Media Studies and Writing & Director of the Program in Women’s and Gender Studies, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The Women of Color (WOC) in the Academy Conference offers faculty women of color and their allies the opportunity to learn and share specific strategies for career advancement. Open to women faculty, post-doctoral scholars, and graduate students, this conference facilitates a more diverse academy by enhancing the timely career progression of its participants. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of interactive, hands-on workshops, as well as network with other women of color faculty throughout the Greater Boston region.
In its fourth year, the WOC in the Academy Conference is hosted by Northeastern University in partnership with the Boston-wide WOC Advisory Committee, which meets monthly to plan year-round initiatives. The Committee is composed of faculty and staff from Northeastern University, Boston University, Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, University of Massachusetts Boston, Tufts University, and MIT. In addition to the conference, their initiatives include quarterly soirees/gatherings and the exploration of an online space to connect WOC faculty.
