Register Today: 2019 Reach(OUT) LGBTQA+ Career Conference!

Save the date for the 6th Annual Reach(OUT) LGBTQA+ Career Conference, which will be taking place on October 25 and 26 of 2019! Hosted by Northeastern University’s LGBTQA Resource Center, Employer Engagement and Career Design, and the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, the two-day conference focuses on the perspectives and concerns of queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binary, intersex, and asexual students in preparation for co-op, internships, and professional life beyond campus. Participants have the opportunity to hear from alumni and professionals in various industries about their professional and personal experiences, lessons, and advice about topics such as engaging your on-campus career resources, self-care and work-life boundaries, and finding the best fit, among many others. In addition to this, students will be able to engage with their peers on these topics to further discuss questions related to preparing for professional working environments.

Recipient of the 2016 National Association of Colleges and Employers’ “Excellence in Diversity” Award, Reach(OUT) aims to showcase representation across the spectrum of sexuality and gender identities, as well as diverse representation of ethnic, ability, national, regional, generational, religious and experiential perspectives. With the goal of building a growing network of LGBTQA+ professionals, the annual conference features a series of panels, keynote speakers, and networking skill-building sessions organized around topics relevant to career success and identity-related authenticity. Open to all college students, Reach(OUT) is developed and executed by a student, staff and faculty planning committee with the objective to make topic selections and recruit panelists based on student need.

Reach(OUT) also offers opportunities for LGBTQA+ alumni to engage and network with students and professionals who share their identities. This past year, in partnership with the Office of Alumni Relations, young alumni lead breakout workshops, including “Resume and Cover Letter Writing” and “Building Your Professional Brand”, to help students make the most of the opportunities Reach(OUT) has to offer. Recent alumni who identify as queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binary, intersex, and/or asexual and are interested in sharing skills with students are invited to continue to participate in Reach(OUT).
