Asian American Community Conference 2018

November 3, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
The 2018 Asian American Community Conference is here! RSVP: http://bit.ly/AACC-RSVP (free for undergraduate students!) | What does it mean to be Asian American? | Do you want to learn more about the issues revolving our Asian American community and learn ways on how to make a difference? Approaching these issues on your own can be intimidating so this conference provides an outlet for us as a community to come together and address these issues while understanding the means to overcoming them! Come out to our annual Asian American Conference on Saturday, November 3rd to make meaningful connections and indulge in lasting conversations with both peers and local professionals! Focusing on “Connections & Conversations,” the overall goal of this conference is threefold: to discuss ways we can ignite change within ourselves, within our community, and within the world beyond our community. Through a series of student-led and professional-led workshops, we will address topics that are pertinent to our community which include but are not limited to mental health, the model minority myth, and self-care. We will be bringing in professionals from Sticky Rice Project, NAAAP, Asian Women for Health, and more! Whether you are familiar with these kinds of discussions or are new and still figuring out your place in the community, this conference will provide a space for everyone to contribute and learn. Light breakfast and lunch will be served so please RSVP in order to ensure a spot for this event! | Notes about our Keynote Speaker: | Yuri Tomikawa is the CEO and founder of Zencare, a website that connects millennials with outstanding mental health professionals. She started Zencare after struggling to find the right therapist during her own quarter life crisis. At that time, existing directories were not helpful in filtering for her specific needs and after days of searching she still could not find the right person. Zencare is meant to provide a simplified and efficient search process for the right therapist so everyone can receive the personalized care they seek! Yuri is featured as one of MedTech Boston's 40 Under 40 Healthcare Innovators and has appeared as a keynote speaker on entrepreneurship, mental health, and female empowerment. Yuri is an alum of Brown University where she graduated magna cum laude, and was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company prior to starting Zencare. Her talk will focus on the importance of mental health and how to seek the right resources!
