Leonardo Padura was born in Havana in 1955 and is a writer, scriptwriter, journalist, and critic. Aside from literary criticism, essays, and a book on salsa, he has published eleven novels and one book of short stories, seven of them featuring detective Mario Conde. He has won many awards, including Cuba’s National Literary Prize (2012). In 2016 the first four novels of the Conde series appeared as Netflix mini-series titled “Four Seasons in Havana”.
