Professor Carla Kaplan seeks a graduate research assistant at 10 hour/week (to be combined with another 10 hour/week assistantship) to begin September 2018 or, possibly, summer of 2018.
The successful candidate will have some graduate training in feminist scholarship, a familiarity with and interest in interdisciplinary scholarship and methods (social science and literature especially), excellent electronic and archival research skills and background, and command of related computer applications for retrieving and duplicating materials. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a capacity for meticulous attention to detail, superb record keeping, the ability to work independently, excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, an ability to work flexibly (possibly putting in more hours at some times than at others), and flexibility with regard to travel (possibly including some local archival travel and the ability to deliver materials to Professor Kaplan).
The graduate research assistant will be paid a stipend and benefits, including tuition, per the university guidelines for such positions. Interested candidates are urged to speak with Professor Kaplan to get a sense of the kinds of research you might undertake and some of the skills you might learn. This position can be combined with a second assistantship of equal time commitment. Please note that these positions are only for those graduate students holding graduate assistantships for the coming academic year. Working hours are flexible.
Please send a letter of interest accompanied by a CV and names and contact information for two references to Professor Carla Kaplan (C.Kaplan@Neu.edu) by March 1.
