Description

The mission of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation is to expand access to health care. Through grants and policy initiatives, the Foundation works with public and private organizations to broaden health coverage and reduce barriers to care for low-income and vulnerable residents of Massachusetts.

We are currently seeking an Administration and Special Projects Manager. This is a multi-faceted position that includes Administration duties as well as Special Projects management.

Administrative Operations

  • Create and manage annual budget in collaboration with functional areas within BCBSMA such as Treasury, Finance and the Finance & Audit committee  
  • Seek ways to simplify process and procedures to ensure operational efficiency to maximize Foundation resources and activities
  • Create, manage, and distribute annual calendar of activities
  • Assist Foundation President in achieving organizational goals
  • Assist with board and governance matters

Communications

  • Drive a multi-tiered awareness and communication strategy to build support, strengthen alliances and create an external environment favorable to the Foundation
  • Manage Foundation's communications: publications, press releases, eblasts and website
  • Manage Annual Report: selection and supervision of outside vendors, budget, and content
  • Manage day-to day media relations
  • Expand the visibility and public presence of the Foundation: Forge, develop and refine a diverse range of relationships and partnerships with advocates, the public, policymakers, health care providers and professionals, the media and other leaders.
  • Seek speaking and other opportunities for president and prepare presentations
  • Manage the Foundation's forums and public meetings

Maintain collaborative working relationships with BCBSMA Corporate areas

  • Increase internal awareness and support for the Foundation
  • Collaborate with leaders from all areas of the company to review issues, integrate project activities, clarify expectations and improve the flow of communication    
  • Communicate policy and program developments through an internal communications plan   
  • Sit on corporate external affairs committee
  • Coordinate content for regulatory and annual reports

Launch and manage special projects as part of Foundation Team

  • Participate in Foundation strategic planning
  • Take lead on certain new Foundation initiatives
  • Conduct research, convene stakeholders and develop project models as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Health Policy or related field preferred.
  •  Minimum five years’ experience in healthcare policy and/or management.
  • Passion for enhancing healthcare for low-income and vulnerable populations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven collaborator who excels on a small team.
