Global Entrepreneurship Week is a collection of talks, events, and workshops coordinated by the Global Entrepreneurship Network from November 16 through November 22. This year’s festivities will feature 40,000 events across 180 countries. The goal: connect entrepreneurs from around the world and broaden the diverse global perspective in startup culture.
Northeastern University is proud to contribute several of their own speakers and events hosted by several departments and organizations for 2020’s Global Entrepreneurship Week. “This year, Northeastern’s Global Entrepreneurship Week will be an excellent representation of all that our ecosystem has to offer, ranging from important conversations around equity and inclusion to impact and entrepreneurship to sharing of global perspectives and expositions featuring many of the most promising projects and companies in our community,” says Associate Director Katie Hemphill of the Venture Mentoring Network. The Center for Research Innovation
The Center for Research Innovation hosts the Founder’s Roundtable event to provide insight into the work that goes into starting a company from the perspective of faculty and professionals that have successfully developed their own startups. The panel will feature professor and prolific entrepreneur Thomas Webster, Professor and Founder of Cryoxia Biosciences Sidi Bencherif, , and Professor and Founder of VocaliD Rupal Patel, and featuring moderator, Asymmetrex Founder and Director James Sherley. The Venture Mentoring Network
The Venture Mentoring Network will host two events: The Future of Entrepreneurship: Equitable Economy and Intercultural Competence: A Tool for Inclusion in the Startup Workspace.
The Future of Entrepreneurship: Equitable Economy features a conversation between D’Amore-McKim School of Business Dunton Family Dean Raj Echambadi and distinguished guests Bett Fanrcisco and Sun Idowu. They will cover important topics such as the incorporation of diverse perspectives in the modern workplace and what it takes to build a more equitable economy. The event will be hosted Monday, November 16th from 5pm to 6pm EST. Register for the event here.
Intercultural Competence: A Tool for Inclusion in the Startup Workspace will host Faustina Cuevas, an avid advocate for diversity in the workplace and speaker with a passion for social justice. Cuevas will discuss intercultural competence and how startups can incorporate those ideals into their company culture. The talk will be held Friday, November 20th from 12pm to 1pm EST. Women Who Empower
Women Who Empower will host A Conversation with Mercedes Abramo – President and CEO of Cartier North America. The conversation aims to celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day and empower women in the industry today. The event will be hosted on Wednesday, November 18th from 1pm to 2pm EST. IDEA Venture Accelerator
IDEA’s Venture Accelerator will host NEXPO, an event that features IDEA startups and explores the resources that support them. IDEA is a student-led group that fosters the development of entrepreneurs within the Northeastern community, and hopes to inspire other students to bring their innovative ideas to life. The event will be hosted on Thursday, November 19th from 6pm to 8pm EST. Register for the event here.
NUImpact
NUImpact will be hosting Rebuilding an Economy that Works for All event over a two day period that aims to combine the perspectives of professionals across academia, grassroots community organizations, and industry to develop a rounded view of intersectionality in racial health disparities, climate change, and housing crises. The first day of the event, Monday, November 16th will feature “A New Opportunity to Meet the Climate Crisis” and “Ensuring Quality Housing in an Age of Inequality” panels from 6pm to 8:30pm EST. The second day of the event, Tuesday, November 17th, will feature “The Fight for Health Equity” from 6pm to 7:30pm EST. Register for the event here.
Health Sciences Entrepreneurs
Health Sciences Entrepreneurs will host Entrepreneurs without borders: Tales from India, Korea and Honduras featuring Nader Yacaman Juha from IC Health, VIdhan Bhaiya from Dr Brinsley, and Danny Kim from WELT alongside moderator Rebecca Love, a nurse entrepreneur, inventor, author and HSE Board Member. The panel aims to discuss government regulation of business, cultural difference in startups, diverse healthcare systems, and how those environments are changing. The event will be held on Tuesday, November 17th from 12pm to 1pm EST. Register for the event here.
MaineHealth Innovation and The Roux Instititue
MaineHealth Innovation and The Roux Institute are putting on the Innovation Blender Series: Low Cost and Scalable. Here. Now. event. Throughout the panel, local innovators in healthcare will share their latest ideas and projects and develop solutions to the needs of those projects. The event will be held Thursday, November 19th from 12pm to 1pm EST. Register for the event here.
