ACES Leadership Opportunities

Peer Leader Program

Year-long Commitment

The Peer Leader program is one of the leadership opportunities available to upperclass students interested in civic engagement and community service. Peer Leaders work in pairs to support and guide groups of 10-15 ACES first-year students through serving as role models for the first-year students, assisting them in their transition into the NU community, and guiding them through their direct service, education, and reflection activities for NU|ACES.

Peer Leaders serve as integral members of ACES by assisting in the implementation of the ACES first year experience and upholding the standards of ACES and the Northeastern University Center of Community Service. Specific qualifications are communicated each year in the recruitment process. The recruitment process will take place between April and August each year.

ACES Welcome Week Team Leaders

Week-long Commitment

NU|ACES Welcome Week offers around 80 incoming first-year Northeastern students an opportunity to explore their new community through community service. Students learn about their new neighborhood and the strengths and challenges of the communities surrounding Northeastern through the integration of educational workshops, trainings, service projects, and group reflections.

Team Leaders serve as integral members of the ACES team, assisting in the implementation of the program and co-leading a team of students throughout the week. Team leaders are mentors and leaders for the service experience, as well as the introduction to the Northeastern community and lifestyle.

In years past, team leaders have assisted with the nuSERVES Program. As of 2017, nuSERVES has changed its name to NU|ACES, where the ACES Welcome Week is strikingly similar to nuSERVES, with the addition of a year-long commitment to the program through partnerships with specific service organizations in a neighboring community.
