Volunteer Coordinator Position

The volunteer coordinator recruits, assists in training, and manages volunteers for various Jumpstart service projects that address specific program and community needs. The volunteers recruited, oriented, and trained by the volunteer coordinator should reflect a balance of college students, local community service organizations, and others who can participate in a range of volunteer service projects. Basic volunteer service project categories include one-day, short-term, and long-term service projects.

The Commitment

The Volunteer Coordinator Commits to serving 300 hours over the academic year. This ends up being about 10-12 hours a week and is flexible but could breakdown as:

  • 4-5 Office hours-planning events, collaborating with Site Manager and teams
  • 4-5 hours classroom assistance time spent assisting in a preschool classroom
  • 2-4 hours of individual planning spent inputting volunteer data, communicating with volunteers and outside organizations

Compensation and Benefits

  • AmeriCorps members will be eligible to receive a $1,194 education award upon completion of their service term based on the commitment level
