Commencement 2020 Updates

We regret that the spring Commencement and individual graduation ceremonies will not be held in person as initially planned. We understand that this decision comes with great disappointment to our graduates, their loved ones, and the entire Northeastern community and we are working on how best to proceed. Recognizing the accomplishments of our graduates, and the time, work and sacrifice it took to successfully achieve them is paramount to this effort. Details will be shared as they become available. Communication to eligible graduates will be emailed to their NEU email address, and updates will be posted to the Commencement website.

Northeastern University is closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak; updated messages are available on the dedicated COVID 19 website. The university‚Äôs official news source, News@Northeastern, is updated constantly and available through all major social media channels.

When will my ceremony be rescheduled?

We are working to find alternate dates and venues for in-person ceremonies when circumstances allow. Details will be shared with you as they become available.

What does this mean for guests/parents/families?

Families and guests may want to cancel travel or accommodation plans related to the May 2020 ceremonies. Future arrangements should not be made until details are confirmed and communicated to our graduates.

When will I receive my diploma?

Diplomas are scheduled to be mailed approximately 2-3 weeks after degrees are officially awarded by the Office of the Registrar. International mail requires an additional 1-2 week delivery time. Please note that this time frame is an estimate and is subject to change due to the current global COVID-19 pandemic. Graduates will be provided advance notice when diplomas are being mailed. Diplomas are not available for pick up on campus.

How do I update my diploma mailing address?

If you need to edit your diploma mailing address, you can do so by logging into myNortheastern > Services & Links > Degree Enrollment & Graduation box > View Application to Graduate. Corrections to your diploma mailing address will ensure delivery of your diploma to this location. Be sure to confirm that an accurate postal code (domestic or international) is entered for the mailing address; it is required and cannot be mailed without it.  If you choose an international mailing address, an international phone number is required. The international phone number provided can be viewed on myNortheastern under View Application to Graduate. If you need to update or add an international phone number please email with your name, NUID and international phone number. Your diploma cannot be mailed until the international phone number is received.
