Women's Alpine Ski Nationals 2016

Last year’s 2015 ski season was the most successful on record for the Women’s Northeastern University Alpine Ski Team. The women’s team made history as the first to have an undefeated season in the Thompson Division, taking 1st place in every single race and winning by record-breaking margins. Building upon this success, the team advanced to the Eastern Regional Championships and shocked the competition by earning the 5th place spot behind four university-funded teams. The women also had incredible success individually, taking 7 of the top 15 spots and clinching the #1 and #3 spots in our division. This fall the team worked harder than ever to prepare for the season, recruiting an impressive group of freshman and both lifting weights several times a week and running stairs at Harvard Stadium as part of a vigorous workout program.

However, alpine ski racing is a notoriously expensive sport which is only made possible by our fundraising efforts.  The team races twice each weekend requiring travel throughout New England, and individually pays for race registration fees, ski lift tickets, hotel rooms, gas and food. In addition to these expenses, team members pay for all of their own equipment, including racing skis, boots, poles and certified racing helmets which cost a minimum of $300 each. Dues for each member are $700 and hill training is an additional $20 per week.

While we continue our success on and off the hill we never lose sight of what really matters; helping others in need.  The NU Women’s Alpine Ski Team contributed to the Boston community last year by donating ski gear and winter clothing to help make the dream of a ski trip a reality for a local school. We also make appearances as varsity hockey and basketball events in support of our fellow Huskies.

We’re asking for your financial support to help us pursue our dream of competing in the 2016 USCSA National Championships at Lake Placid, which will cost our team over $8,000. We believe we will not only qualify for the Nationals as proud representatives of Northeastern University, but will also be one of the top-ranked teams in the country. Thank you in advance for your participation in our campaign.

Our Goal

Our initial goal is to raise $2,000 via Catalyst. This money will go towards the team's registration fees for nationals.

Stretch Goal: $2,000

Our stretch goal is to raise an additional $2,000. $800 of this goal will provide lodging for our team at the regional championships and $1,200 will go towards our lodging at the national championships.

Thank You For Your Support!
