Facilities operations will be conducted based upon national, state, local, and university guidelines. Operational procedures will be revised as guidelines are updated.

  • At the SquashBusters Center, we have de-densified further below the required 40% capacity and designated 6:00am-6:50am, Monday-Friday & 8:00am-8:50am Saturday-Sunday as the lowest density timeframes, provided for those individuals that are interested in this particular type of environment.



  • Make a reservation for your workout time/zone through the Atleto app.
  • Please bring with you: your NU ID Card, a towel, water bottle, and any other equipment you might want for your visit.
  • Lockers, showers, hair dryers, and saunas will not be available.
  • Towel, lock, and small equipment check-out will not be available.
  • Water fountains will be available only for bottle re-fill.
  • Wear on a mask, meeting the university requirement . Masks are required at all times in the facilities.
  • Adhere to University Access Protocols for visiting campus. Northeastern University Testing Protocols and FAQS.


  • Directional signage and floor markers to indicate traffic flow and compliance with social/physical distancing.
  • Self-scan your NU ID to ensure contactless or limited contact entry.
  • Locker room access is available for restroom use and handwashing only (hand sanitizer will be available throughout the facility). Changing spaces will not be available.
  • Equipment and spaces have been modified to meet state and local social/physical distancing requirements and to decrease density in the facilities. Please note various signage, floor markings, equipment modifications, and adhere to these new measures.
  • Within each zone more equipment is available than reservations, however please workout efficiently and consider that you may need to account for a short wait period when moving from machine to machine.
  • Cleaning equipment before and after use with products provided will be expected of all members and is one of the most effective ways to ensure safety precautions to protect oneself.

  • Joining Atleto:
  • After downloading the ‘Atleto’ Application, input: First name, Last name, Email, and Preferred Password. Please be sure to utilize your Northeastern email when creating your profile.
  • You will be prompted to add the activities of your interest. Feel free to add as many as you like, but please be sure to add ‘Fitness’.
  • Click ‘Groups’. You will be able to see all the groups at Northeastern University.
  • Choose Northeastern University (Open Group anyone with @northeastern.edu automatically receives access to reservations)
  • Click ‘Ask to Join’
  • Once you have made your account (@northeastern.edu) it will be active immediately and you will be able to make a reservation for a zone.

    Making a Reservation:
  • Please ensure you have an active Campus Recreation Membership prior to making a reservation
  • Log in to your ATLETO account
  • Navigate to the Me icon on the bottom right of screen
  • Select “My Bookings”
  • Select “Make a booking”
  • Choose the facility for which you would like to make a reservation (Marino Center or SquashBusters)
  • You will be able to see all the zones. Select your zone and all available reservation times for the next three days will be visible. (If a reservation time is filled you will notice a red dot next to that time and a message will direct you to choose another time)
  • Choose your reservation and it will be saved into your bookings list in date order.
  • You may sign up for one reservation per day.
  • You can make a reservation on the same day, if there is a spot available.
  • A notification will be sent via a banner on your device 3 hours prior to your reservation to remind you of your scheduled time.
  • If a zone is already full, you will be given the option to join the waiting list.
  • If a cancellation occurs the next person on the wait list will be notified via push notification.
  • You can unregister by choosing ‘Cancel Booking’ (swiping left on your booking) up to an hour before the reservation begins.
  • During your workout a notification will appear 10 minutes prior to the end of your reservation to remind you of the time remaining.


  • In order to reduce facility density, we request that you arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to your reservation. Zone reservations will be staggered to allow for safe distancing within the facility, and traffic flow between those entering and exiting between reservations. Adherence to this timeframe is expected.

  • Please swipe into the facility with your NU Husky photo ID (touchless entry)
  • Check-in begins no earlier than 5 minutes prior to the reservation and ends promptly at the end of reservation duration. If late, check in will be allowed up to 20 minutes remaining time in your reservation. All reservation end promptly at the end of reservation duration, regardless of late check-in.
  • You will be directed to check-in with a student-employee in your reserved zone so the capacity can be accurately monitored (appropriate social distancing applies). Please look for our team member upon entrance into your reserved zone. They will be able to assist with any questions you have regarding to the space and equipment available.
  • Individuals who fail to arrive or cancel a reservation will be removed from eligibility for a period of time. We understand plans may change and therefore you can cancel your reservation up to one hour before it begins. However, we do ask that you refrain from utilizing this cancellation option very close to the drop time, unless necessary or because you begin to experience Covid-19 related symptoms.

  • Please leave valuables at home as we ask that you keep your bag with you upstairs or do not bring a bag when possible.
  • Athletic attire must always be worn.
  • No sandals or bare feet are allowed.
  • Stretching mats will not be available in the facility if you wish to stretch or take yoga classes, please bring your own mat.
  • Yoga Mats can be purchased at the Marino Center and SquashBusters Center for $15.00

    As Huskies we pledge to demonstrate concern for others. Put simply, we wear face coverings to protect others. While at the Campus Recreation Facilities a face covering is required in all spaces and during your work-out.



    We are requiring all patrons to present and scan their Northeastern University Husky ID Card for entry to provide touch free access into the facilities and to verify that attestation and testing requirements have been met.



    We use Oxivir & Virex 256 spray and wipes, as recomended by the university.  These products are one-step, hospital grade, cleaning, disinfectant. They are effective on hard and soft surfaces and safe for skin contact.



    In addition to participant's cleaning that is expected before and after use, Campus Recreation staff will clean all equipment surfaces 4 times per day during zone closures. High touch surfaces (doorknobs, stair rails etc.) will be cleaned continuously throughout the day.



    Our hand sanitizer has minimally 62% alcohol content.



    To help maintain healthy distancing, and following university guidelines, basketball and other open recreational activities have been temporarily suspended.



    To minimize contact surfaces, Northeastern University has decided that only bottle fillers are available.



    To help maintain healthy distancing, and following university guidelines, open swim has been temporarily suspended, as well as access to the raquetball courts & the indoor cage.



    Squash court reservation (1 person per court limit)



    State and Northeastern University guidelines requires physical distancing of at least 6 feet while working out indoors. The fitness areas at the Marino Recreation Center and the SquashBusters Center have been modified to adhere to this requirement. The use of safety straps is highly recommended, and we ask that you alter weights or exercise type to maintain safety. Campus Recreation staff will not be available for spotting.



    Yes you can make an one-on-one appointment with a nationally certified personal trainer who will maintain physical and social distance throughout the duration of your appointment.



    Supersets are not allowed due to the inability to facilitate efficient workout timeframes in the facilities.



    No, at this time guests are not permitted. Northeastern University is currently restricting visitation for individuals not meeting university testing protocols.



    In efforts to stay healthy and help stop the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses, we encourage everyone to follow the 3 C’s.
    1. COVER – cough (or sneeze) into the crook of your elbow or into a tissue that is immediately thrown away
    2. CLEAN – Frequently wash your hands with warm water and soap for 20 seconds – about the time it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice.
    3. CONTAIN – Stay home when you are sick until you have been free of fever for 72 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.


    Other than modifications to increase safety or service, or changes made to align with university, state, or city requirements, we anticipate our approach to facility operations to be fluid throughout the fall semester. Continue to monitor our website for updates.
