Intramural 5 on 5 Basketball

5 on 5 Basketball is one of Northeastern University's most popular and fastest filling Intramural Sports. This high energy sport is a staple of the program that is typically played in the evenings during the week.

With both a competitive and recreational league, as well as open, women's and sometime co-rec divisions, this sport is fun for every skill and experience level.

Open competitive, open recreational, and women's leagues are all available allowing students of all skill levels to participate.

Players Playing

Starting with a standard jump-ball, the game will consist of two 20 minute halves with a running clock that stops only in the last 10 seconds of the first half and the last minute of the game. While there is no shot clock, deliberate stalling of the game will result in a turnover.

Standard high school basketball rules are played, so very little contact is allowed and the usual foul situations are honored. It is important to be aware that players do foul out after 5 fouls in this league, so team fouling strategy becomes essential.

An important rule to remember is that there is absolutely no dunking or hanging on the rim in Intramural Sports. This will lead to an automatic ejection, so it is necessary to remember this at all times.

No matter your experience or skill level, 5 on 5 Intramural Basketball may be for you!
