INTRAMURAL SPORTS

Intramural Sports

University Recreation Intramural Sports programs allow the campus community to participate in a variety of different tournaments and leagues. With both team and individual sports like flag football, softball, soccer, broomball, badminton, floor hockey, and volleyball, there really is something for everybody.  Within each sport, leagues will be offered to accommodate the recreational playstyles and skill levels of all student participants.

Intramural Sports offers several different types of league play. The two most featured are Open Leagues and All Gender Leagues. Open leagues have no set parameters for who can participate on the field or court, and are often our most competitive leagues. All Gender leagues (formerly known as “Co-Rec”) have sport-specific parameters that require a ratio of different gender-identifying participants competing at once. Please consult the handbook of each sport for further guidance and clarification. All rules and registration information can be found on IMLeagues at https://www.imleagues.com/Northeastern

Our events give students opportunities to improve and enhance leadership and social skills in a fast-paced, competitive, and fun environment. In providing these tournaments and leagues, the University Recreation Intramural Sports programs continue to promote healthy lifestyles and wellness, provide an environment that allows for competition amongst peers, and ensures fun experiences for the entire campus community.

Registration

Team registrations are taken on a first come, first serve basis. We encourage all interested participants to register as early as possible as facility space is limited and most sports often have a wait list. All registrations, league information and schedules are done online via IMLeagues.com

If you have any trouble, questions or concerns when creating your account or trying to register your team – please email Jack Butler, Senior Assistant Director of University Recreation – Intramural Sports & Facilities at j.butler@northeastern.edu or Daniel LaPalm, Coordinator of University Recreation – Intramural Sports at d.lapalm@northeastern.edu

Who can play?

All registered and enrolled Northeastern University undergraduate and graduate students are allowed to play intramural sports. There is no additional cost and students may play more than one sport.
