Because of the integration with the Blackboard learning management system, proper registration can be unwieldy for students. If students do an internet search, they will likely discover a different process for registration that will fail to make the link correctly to the system, resulting in their clicker or ResponseWare responses being lost.
As a result, we recommend that you include the following information in your syllabus or otherwise communicate it to your students. Feel free to edit the introductory paragraphs so that they describe specifically how you will use the software in the classroom. Because students have to pay for it, they may decide not to pay for it unless you explicitly say that their performance or participation will be sent to the gradebook.
We have created separate communications for you depending on whether you are using only clickers in the classroom, only ResponseWare (students don’t buy a clicker but respond on their smartphone or computer), or if you allow both. Note that clicker purchases come with a ResponseWare license, but students won’t be able to use ResponseWare unless you start a ResponseWare session.
