Facing Humanity is an exhibition of work by renowned illustrators who create images for books, magazines, posters, and other forms of publication. Artists featured in this show range from the rising starts of illustration to some of the most prominent illustrators in the world. All have the unique ability to capture the personality and emotions of their subjects.

Several of these images have appeared in international publications and are being exhibited here for the first time. the portraits shown here depict everyday people and well-known figures from popular culture. Each artist sought to illustrate not only the features and form of their subjects, but the significance the subjects have in culture and society.

Scott Bakal is an award-winning illustrator who has worked for the The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal. The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Discover, Smithsonian, and hundreds of other publications. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Normal Rockwell Museum, the Society of Illustrators, the New Britain Museum of American Art, and the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Bakal is an associate professor in the illustration program at the Massachusetts college of Art and Design ans was honored to receive the 2010 Educator of the Year award for 3×3 Magazine, and in over a hundred other publications.
