6:30 p.m. | 292 Centre St., Newton, MA 

Join us on November 16 to brew your very own batch of craft beer from start to finish just in time to wow your family and friends for the holidays. Registration is $60 per person and includes beer-making class instruction and materials (plus finished, bottled beer after 2-3 weeks), farm to table heavy appetizers, and one (1) Hopster draft beer. Must be 21+ to attend.

Holiday Baking with the Brass Sisters

The air is chilly, and the sea of puffy jackets is visible across miles. You know what that means… baking season is near! Get ready for this holiday season with a baking demonstration and tasting with the Brass Sisters! Expert bakers Marilynn Brass, LA’64, MA’66 and Sheila Brass will be back on campus this December to teach you all about making shortbread. Share stories, recipes, and delicious treats with your fellow Northeastern community members at the Xhibition Kitchen.



Sept. 28, 2017 | The Art of Sushi

Sushi Chef Institute | Torrance, California
Los Angeles community members came together at Sushi Chef Institute for a fun hands on sushi making class. Chef Andy taught the group how to create California rolls, hand rolls, maki, and much more! After the class attendees enjoyed the opportunity to get to know one another while eating their delicious creations.

September 25, 2017 | French Macaron Class

Food La La | San Francisco, California
At this sold out event, San Francisco community members learned the art of the French Macaron from Chef Lindsay Kinder. Chef Lindsay demonstrated techniques and tricks about how make these tricky cookies at home while attendees sipped on champagne. Then, after the macaron shells came out of the oven the group got creative with buttercream fillings and fun decorations. The finished product were both beautiful and delicious!

Proud alumna Eileen Herman-Haase, LA’74 & Raul Nieves taught a fun introductory dance class for our Boston community members. Attendees of all experience levels got to know their fellow huskies while learning the art of Salsa.

Alumni learned the basics of calligraphy at this fun on-campus session led by Sip & Script. Everyone left the event with their own beginner’s calligraphy kit to continue practicing at home!

Our community members had the opportunity to learn the art of flower arranging at a class led by Alices’s Table. Each attendee created a magnificent flower arrangement with lilies, hydrangea, snapdragons, and cherry brandy roses.

Mar. 31, 2017 | Make Your Own Pasta

Dave’s Fresh Pasta | Somerville, Massachusetts
Due to popular demand, we offered a second session of pasta-making at Dave’s. Alumni of all ages joined us for tips on how to make homemade pasta. Once again, Chef Dave taught the group the basics of successful pasta-making. Then, we all enjoyed the delicious feast we had created.

Feb. 2, 2017 | Tango with NU Ballroom Dance

Curry Student Center | Boston, Massachusetts
At this event, alumni learned to tango with NU Ballroom Dance Club. Two instructors from this student-run group demonstrated the basic moves. Then the group paired off to try for themselves. NU Ballroom Dance Club teaches free dance classes weekly and all are invited!

Jan. 27, 2017 | Make Your Own Pasta

Dave’s Fresh Pasta | Somerville, Massachusetts
At this sold-out event, a small group of alumni learned how to make their own pasta from scratch. Attendees sampled wine and cheese selections while watching Chef Jason demonstrate skills. Then, the group paired off to make their own fettuccine, spaghetti, and ravioli stuffed with butternut squash and porcini mushrooms.

 Nov. 29, 2016 | Bake with the Brass Sisters

Xhibition Kitchen | Boston, Massachusetts
This event gave alumni of all ages the opportunity to learn holiday baking tips from the experts – The Brass Sisters! Marilyn Brass, LA’64, MA’66 and Sheila Brass taught attendees how to make cranberry raisin pie, lemon drizzle cake, and chocolate buche de Noel.

Oct. 20, 2016 | Create a Terrarium

Trident Booksellers & Café | Boston, Massachusetts
Boston community members got their hands dirty with Plant Nite as they created colorful succulent terrariums. A local plant expert walked the group through the planting process and provided tips on how to take care of plants. Attendees took home beautiful arrangements and green thumbs!

 Sept. 20, 2016 | Learn to Cook

Boston Center for Adult Education | Boston, Massachusetts
Attendees worked closely with two knowledgeable chefs to whip up a three-course meal that featured dishes like risotto, tiramisu, and tomato mozzarella crostini! After the meal was complete, the group sat down together to enjoy and get to know one another.
