Beyond the Brew: The Attic Alehouse

Join fellow members of the Northeastern Community in Seattle at alumnus-owned The Attic Alehouse. Mark Long, MBA’88, owner of The Attic, invites you to enjoy great local beer, food, and company on May 16. Local brewers will be onsite to mingle with guests and talk about the newest trends in the Seattle craft beer scene. You won’t want to miss it!
The Attic Alehouse and Eatery is a historic pub located in the beautiful Madison Park neighborhood. They are self-proclaimed as a good ol’ fashioned American pub that started as a shooting gallery in 1904 – proudly hosting over 20 rotating taps, a full bar, and a menu of American classics made from scratch every day.

Beyond the Brew: Zuni Street Brewing

Join the Northeastern Community for a can’t miss event at one of the newest breweries in the Denver craft beer scene – Zuni Street Brewing!
Learn your way around Zuni signature brews through the Finding your Flavors flight school led by Certified Cicerone® (think beer sommelier), Paul McConnell. There’s no beer-snobbery involved here though, this class is fun, interactive, and hands-on! You will even receive a beer ‘cheat-sheet’ to take home and get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look of the brewery – just opened in March 2017!

Beyond the Brew: London

Experience some of the best craft beer London has to offer with fellow members of the Northeastern Community at Southwark Brewery. The evening will feature a tutored tasting of (3) three Southwark beers paired with (3) British cheeses and (3) British meats all locally sourced from Borough Market. The event will also include a guided tour of the brewing equipment where guests will learn how beer is made and sample (3) three additional craft brews.
Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow members of the Northeastern Community living in London in a fun and casual setting!

Beyond the Brew: Total Body Workout + Craft Beer Tasting

Strengthen, stretch, & sip with fellow fitness and beer lovers of the Northeastern Community with the first ever mashup of our Beyond the Brew and Huskies Fitness series!
First, join us for a 45-minute full body workout suitable for all fitness levels led by alumna, Sarah Gaines, AMD’15. We’ll start with a focus on strength and stability then cool it down with a slow and meditative stretch. You’ll leave feeling refreshed, relaxed, and ready for a pint!
Immediately following, we’ll have a beer tasting featuring breweries from around New England to reward you for all your hard work – you earned it! Sample craft brews and ciders while snacking on light appetizers and mingling with your fellow Huskies. Featured breweries include Smuttynose, Woodstock Inn, Downeast Cider, and Champlain Orchards.
You must bring your own mat (and towel if desired) to this event; mats will NOT be available onsite. Please wear comfortable fitness attire.
Registration is $10 per person and includes fitness class, unlimited beer tastings, and post-workout snacks. Must be 21+ to attend.

The kick-off event of the Beyond the Brew series was hosted at one of the Boston area’s most innovative breweries; Aeronaut! The event featured talks on innovation and science by the founders of the brewery, craft beer tastings, bar snacks, games, and more!

Members of the San Diego community enjoyed a night of networking over beer and dinner at Ballast Point Brewery. The new state-of-the-art Miramar location features two giant copper kettles discovered in a brewery in Lohr, Germany, an innovation lab, tasting bar, and restaurant.

This event represented our take on a traditional Oktoberfest beer tasting event! The Northeastern community enjoyed Bavarian-inspired fare, live music, and tastings from local craft breweries including Mayflower Brewing Company, Mystic Brewery, and Jack’s Abby.

The founders of several local breweries discussed the business side of starting and owning a craft brewery, moderated by Northeastern professor Ted Clark. Represented breweries included Mayflower Brewing Co., Downeast Cider House, and Medford Brewing Co.

Northeastern alumni, parents, and friends living in the Denver area got together for a yoga class inside Alpine Dog Brewery. After class, guests had the chance to sample Alpine Dog signature brews like Bourbon Barrel Peach Pale Ale and Liquid Pancakes.

Members of the San Diego community gathered at Stone Brewing Co. for a guided beer tasting with locally-sourced appetizers on the breathtaking balcony. Guests were even surprised with an impromptu tour led by an alumna who is currently working as a microbiologist for Stone.

Boston-area alumni gathered at Hopsters in Newton for a full hands-on beer making experience. Attendees brewed their own batch of craft beer in small groups, indulged in some great farm-to-table fare and enjoyed getting to know one another. Following the event, everyone got to take home the beer they brewed!

6:30 – 9 p.m. | Craft Beer Tasting with Huntington Wine & Spirits
Craft breweries and other craft beverage companies are popping up all over Massachusetts! On 6/29 the Northeastern Community had the chance to taste offerings from two newcomers in the craft beverage market – Bent Water Brewing and Nauti Seltzer as well as some new brews from the old favorite – Berkshire Brewing. This on-campus social event was co-hosted by alumni-owned Huntington Wine & Spirits and Rubi’s Hot Dogs.

Guests experienced some of the best craft beer DC has to offer with inventive and inspired brews from Blue Jacket Brewey. This wasn’t a typical beer tasting, but instead the brilliant minds at Blue Jacket and their restaurant, The Arsenal, walked attendees through pairing craft beer with delectable desserts! Move over wine, there’s a new dessert beverage in town!
