Northeastern University in 2015-2016 embarked on a strategic planning process intended to guide the university’s course for the next ten years. I invited all members of the Northeastern community to add their voices to this conversation about our future, and you did.
In the nine years since we composed our last strategic plan, Northeastern has undergone dramatic changes, as has the wider landscape of higher education. Evolving educational models, robust global opportunities, and the rise of professionals, lifelong learners and digital natives among our current and potential students are but a few of the many factors transforming our university. These dramatic shifts need to be reflected in Northeastern’s overall strategic vision, including our mission, our institutional values, and our strategic and long-range plans. This is an opportune moment to assess the implications of these changes and discuss the future trajectory of Northeastern.
The planning process was inclusive and drew on the perspectives of faculty, staff, students and alumni; Northeastern’s network of cooperative education employers and corporate partners; and the communities surrounding our campuses in Boston and in Charlotte, NC; Seattle, WA; and Silicon Valley.
This site summarizes the planning process and provides the new Academic Plan to the community. We thank the Northeastern community for their contributions to and involvement with the academic planning process that took place in 2015-2016. Northeastern 2025 is the academic plan that will guide the course of the university for the next ten years. Comments can be sent to Deb Franko, Interim Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.
