Hosted by the Legacy Mentoring and Leadership Program

We invite you to com learn and share more about Dr. King in ways that are beyond the all-important Dream speech. By viewing the King in the Wilderness documentary and engaging in small and large group discussions, we can meaningfully reflect on MLK.

Carry on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Enjoy special performances by artists committed to social justice and service, including Artist-in-Residence storyteller Gcina Mhlophe, and Porsha Olayiwola—Boston Poet Laureate and the Gardner Museum’s own Neighborhood Salon Luminary.. Join in a hands-on service project, enjoy Project STEP student musicians.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by surrounding yourself with art, culture, and community. Citizens Bank has sponsored the MFA’s MLK Day community celebration for 18 consecutive years—allowing the Museum to welcome more than 120,000 visitors into our galleries to enjoy free performances, tours, talks, art-making activities, and more.

Boston Cares I Volunteering for a Greater Boston
On January 20, 2020 Boston Cares will organize 600 volunteers at the Boston Latin School, to support local Boston adults and teens by creating workforce development learning tools for community organizations and schools throughout the city of Boston. Volunteers will create career workbooks, padfolios, mock interview flashcards, and more for organizations supporting adults and teens entering the workforce. Additionally, our sponsors will join us in building beds for families who do not have a bed of their own. MLK Day is always kid-friendly and open to youth 5+.
