Northeastern Opens League Play with a Win

Three quick goals spark the Huskies 5-0 win in first ECWHL game against University of Buffalo.

After a bit of a slow start, NU found their scoring touch to end up with the win against University of Buffalo. Freshman, Kelsey Hickey, opened up the scoring late in the second period with her first career goal off of excellent forechecking from Jess Cicconi and Shannon Kelleher, who both earned assists on the goal. Just over a minute later, Mckenzie Powers and Meredith Harclerode set up a pretty back door goal from Tricia Martin pinching in from the blue line. Another minute later, Christine Fuchs hit Hannah Berry streaking down the right wing and Berry took care of the rest burying the puck in the back of the net. NU did not stop after the second when Freshman, Chrissie Bowler, picked up her first career goal off some more nifty passing from Mckenzie Powers. Hannah Berry rounded out the scoring picking up her second goal of the night, off of a pass from Savannah Riley.
