Welcome to the home of the Northeastern Women's Club Ice Hockey Team! We are a division 2 club hockey team playing out of Matthews Arena in Boston, MA. The huskies are part of the NEWCHL and also the ACHA. The team was established in 2007.

 

Huskies Sweep Season Series with MIT and Mt Holyoke

The Huskies kept their record perfect after playing two tough games against their rival across the Charles River, MIT. MIT came to Northeastern on Friday and played Northeastern to a tough 3-1 game. MIT came to play and had the Huskies at 1-1 going into the second, but Mady Bilodeau and Savannah Riley put Northeastern on top for good to lock up the win. On Thursday, the Huskies travelled over to MIT to complete the sweep in a 5-1 effort. Alex Charest played a strong game in net notching the win, shutting the door on MIT to lock down the second consecutive season series sweep.

Saturday, Northeastern continued league play with a convincing 14-0 win over Mt. Holyoke College. Meredith Harclerode, Mckenzie Powers, and Hannah Berry all picked up 4 points in the win, followed by 3 points from Lauren Mormino. Northeastern had 9 different goal scorers, and 14 different players tallying at least a point. Kelly Morris and Chelsea Dietz combined for the shut out.

This coming weekend the Huskies travel to Burlington, Vermont to battle NEWCHL rival University of Vermont in what could be a preview of the NEWCHL championship game in 2 weeks. Earlier in the season, Northeastern got the better of UVM in a 3-1 win at Matthews Arena.

 

Huskies Keep Rolling

The Huskies continued their winning ways after a 3-0 weekend at the first annual ACHA Showcase at Bates College. Six teams took part in the showcase, Northeastern, Bates College, University of Vermont, University of Maine,University of Maryland, and American University. Northeastern opened up the second semester with a decisive 11-1 win over University of Maryland. Mckenzie Powers continued her scoring ways tallying five goals. Meredith Harclerode and Christine Fuchs each earned four assists. Defenseman Alli Tocci notched three assists, and Michelle Crisp rounded out the scoring with two goals.

On Saturday, the Huskies earned a 9-1 win over American University with Christine Fuchs and Vanessa Tomchik leading the offense with a goal and two assists each. Jessica Cicconi and Liza Duble both scored their first careergoals, Cicconi notching a goal and an assist, and Duble scoring twice.

Northeastern finished off the weekend with a 7-2 win over a very physical University of Maine. The Huskies shot out to a 5-0 lead in the first period but things started getting rough in the second as Maine picked up their physical play scoring twice. Northeastern answered with two more goals, as well as matched the physical play with hard fought efforts from Mckenzie Powers and Jessica Cicconi, showing that Northeastern is up to any challenge.

The Huskies resume non league play this Friday against MIT in a Friday night game.

Huskies Join ACHA and NEWCHL

The Huskies have joined the ACHA (American College Hockey Association) along with the NEWCHL(North East Women's College Hockey League) division 2 beginning in 2008 The NEWCHL is a local league consisting of 6 teams including Northeastern. The other teams are Mout Holyoke College, University of Vermont, Smith College, Bates College, and University of Connecticut. The ACHA is the national organization consisting of many other teams all over the country. The huskies have a very competitive schedule this upcoming season as they are ready to continue their success from last year. (5/30/08)
