Innovation Districts and the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

In the fall of 2011, leaders from Boston’s business, civic and academic communities traveled to Barcelona and Madrid, Spain to explore the success and challenges that have been experienced in the areas of talent attraction and retention.

The goal of this inaugural Policy Exchange Mission was to explore firsthand the best practices that have been implemented in Barcelona and Madrid and for delegation of to form a common vision of how these practices can be implemented for the betterment of the Boston region.

They found innovative programs and policies that help foster an attractive entrepreneurial ecosystem that will serve as fertile ground for new generations of enterprises in a variety of industries.
