Four from university win spots at Olympics

By Jason Kornwitz

The Northeastern community will be well represented during the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing, China, which begin during the first week of August. Two alumni, Dan Walsh and Zara Northover, and one student, Marshall Godschalk, will compete in the games, while mechanical and industrial engineering associate academic specialist Dr. Beverly Jaeger will be a line judge for tennis matches. Walsh and Godschalk, former members of Northeastern’s crew, will compete in separate rowing events for the United States and the Netherlands, respectively. The rowers continue a longstanding tradition at the university, as Northeastern crew has been represented in each of the Olympic summer games since 1972. Northover, a track and field star while at Northeastern, will throw the shot put for Jamaica, her parents’ homeland.

Check back here over the next few weeks to view results from their Olympic events.
