If you or someone you care about has experienced interpersonal violence, the Sexual Violence Resource Center can serve as a starting point. Staff in the office can help explain the options available to you and help you to quickly access services.  Alternatively, you can access services directly from any of the ViSION (Violence Support, Intervention, and Outreach Network) partners.  Below are the services each can provide:

The Office for University Equity and Compliance

  • Coordinates the University’s compliance with Title IX
  • Receives reports of Title IX violations
  • Oversees and investigates all complaints of sex discrimination
  • Provides training for students about their rights under Title IX and associated grievance procedures
  • Organizes training for University employees related to Title IX

Office of Prevention and Education at Northeastern (OPEN) provides

  • Prevention and education programs on sexual violence and intimate partner violence
  • Opportunities to dialogue and connect with others working to prevent interpersonal violence
  • Bystander intervention programs
  • Staffing for the Sexual Violence Resource Center

Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD) provides

  • Full investigation of reported cases of violence and sexual assault by specially trained officers
  • Transportation to an area hospitals
  • Accompaniment to court sessions on and off campus
  • Information about criminal prosecution
  • Detective assistance in obtaining a Harassment Protection Order, No Contact Order and/ or Restraining Order through the appropriate system
  • RAD classes to teach self defense

 Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR) provides

  • Resolution of complaints of sexual violence involving Northeastern students
  • Informational meetings with OSCCR staff to discuss any complaint
  • No-contact orders throughout the disciplinary process and afterward as appropriate

Residential Life provides

  • Temporary safe room or permanent change of room assignment, if necessary
  • An identified perpetrator may be temporarily or permanently banned from a residence hall pending the outcome of an investigation

University Health and Counseling Services  (UHCS) provides

  • Assessment and treatment of physical injury
  • Pregnancy assessment and prevention
  • Evaluation, treatment, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections
  • Psychological assessment, therapy, support and community referrals
  • Urgent appointments
  • Confidential exploration of options

We Care provides

  • A Case Manager who can help change academic schedule and provide access to other interim remedies

In addition to the ViSION partners, a number of other offices on campus are positioned to provide concurrent support.
