The Northeastern University Scholars Program is one of the most intellectually bold and distinguished undergraduate scholarship programs in the country. Each year, a small cohort of exceptional students is selected from the top of our freshman applicants, who hail from around the world.  Prospective University Scholars are invited to join this highly accomplished group of future leaders and innovators based upon their demonstrated:

• Outstanding academic achievement (top 1-2% of applicant pool)
Creativity inside and outside the classroom
Energy, ideas, and ambition to innovate
• Interdisciplinary curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit
Vision, confidence, maturity and resourcefulness
Passion to make a positive difference in this world and a strong character

We are looking, in other words, for students who have taken full advantage of the opportunities presented to them, in school and beyond. Our University Scholars are independent and collaborative thinkers with the power and drive to create meaningful lives for themselves and a better world for others.

Among the first cohort (42 freshman) are students from around the world - all of them from the top 10% of their high school class and a number of valedictorians. 19% are international students, and their average high school GPA was 4.4. Their accomplishments and impact include national and international recognition in music, art, math and science competitions, debate, and Model United Nations; founding nonprofit organizations and social entrepreneurship ventures; health, science and technology research alongside graduate students and in industry;  and being multilingual. They each exemplify intellectual and interdisciplinary curiosity and maturity, and are talented, high caliber students whom will have many choices for college and university enrollment.
