Undergraduate Research Awards

The 2013-2014 Undergraduate Research Award Program is complete. Please return to this site in late August to learn about the 2014-2015 program.

The Office of the Provost is sponsoring a number of undergraduate research projects during the current academic year. Awards up to a maximum of $1,000 are provided to support student research such as purchase of supplies, software, reference books, or travel to research sites and to present work at professional meetings. Team research is also supported and, in appropriate cases, the award amount is larger than the single-student maximum. Students who wish to be considered should first discuss possible topics with their faculty sponsor, and then start the application process. To help you identify a faculty mentor, the links at the left will lead you to a searchable database of previous undergraduate research projects mentored by hundreds of NU faculty and information on opportunities within NU research centers, as well as information on more specialized opportunities within NU and on opportunities at other institutions.
