Crisis Treatment
Occasionally, a student may become depressed and experience suicidal thoughts; be the victim of actual or threatened violence (including sexual assault); or encounter overwhelming feelings, disorientation, or disconnection with reality. The Mental Health unit of UHCS provides coverage throughout the day so that students in crisis may be assisted immediately. Consulting with a staff member at this time may prevent the situation from developing into a more severe problem. Call or stop by the UHCS and inform the receptionist that the situation is urgent.
After hours emergencies should be directed to the Public Safety Division (on campus) at (617) 373-3333 or the local police (off campus). Students can also go to the local emergency room.
