My research focuses on the evolutionary ecology of the rough periwinkle, Littorina saxatilis, on the western shores of the north Atlantic. While several European populations have been studied extensively, relatively little is known about the evolutionary history and current ecology of L. saxatilis in North America. Current projects include describing the relationships between L. saxatilis populations on western and eastern Atlantic shores, characterizing patterns of gene flow among neighboring populations, and exploring ecological influences on morphological variation within the species.
