Project Management Graduate Degree Prepares Toronto Students for a Bright Future

We’re excited about offering the Master’s in Project Management program at Northeastern – Toronto, starting in 2017.

As companies seek to improve productivity and effectiveness, project managers are in high demand, not only in North America, but also around the world. According to a Project Management Institute salary survey from 2015, the median salary for Canadians working in the field is $97,000 CAD. Designed to provide both practical skills and theoretical concepts, this project management degree presents techniques and tools for managing long- and short-term projects, successfully and cost effectively. Augmenting the core project management courses are concentrations that provide content-specific expertise, allowing students to deepen their knowledge in their field of interest, such as clinical trial design, construction management, geographic information systems, organizational communication, information security management, leading and managing technical projects, and more.

The Master’s in Project Management at Northeastern – Toronto aligns to an internationally recognized standard and has received accreditation by the Project Management Institute’s Global Accreditation Centre (GAC), the world’s leading specialized accrediting body for project management and related degree programs. John LaBrie, Principal of Northeastern University – Toronto say: “Project management has become a sophisticated and essential part of all large organizations. Many of Southern Ontario’s growing industry sectors such as financial services, food manufacturing and advanced manufacturing are using project managers to effectively launch new products or systems while reducing risks and costs. The career prospects in the field are growing rapidly in this area.”

At the end of this program, students will have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skill necessary to effectively lead and manage multiple, sometimes interrelated, complex projects while avoiding common project management pitfalls; manage project risk, quality, and performance while communicating with all stakeholders; implement an enterprise-level project portfolio management program based upon an organization’s strategic business goals; and understand the need for ethics and social responsibility in the practice of project management as outlined in the Project Management Institute Code of Ethics.

Having done extensive research speaking to employers in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond, we know there is a need for this program, and we look forward to sharing more information about it in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can review the specifics of the degree here.
