Cyber Security is now everyone’s business!

Northeastern University Toronto announces the launch of its Master’s in Information Assurance.

Perhaps more than ever before, the issue of cyber security is top of mind in North America. And starting in 2017, we are offering the Master’s in Information Assurance online and hybrid. This is the same popular program now offered at our other campuses in Charlotte, Seattle, Silicon Valley and Boston.

Themis Papageorge, Ph.D., says, “I have been with this program for a long time, and in the past 10 years I have seen an exponential increase in demand from companies and government agencies for people in this profession. And we expect the demand to increase for the next 50 years or more.” Dr. Papageorge is Director of Information Assurance and Cyber Security and Associate Clinical Professor, College of Computer and Information Science at Northeastern University.

Thanks to this strong demand, in recent years Northeastern University’s MS in Information Assurance graduates have experienced a record of 100% employment in their chosen field.

The program, designed for both working professionals and recent grads, helps students gain the knowledge they need to make strategic decisions about information security issues, including identify theft, computer viruses and electronic fraud. The focus is on understanding information security technology with relevant knowledge from law, the social sciences, criminology, and management.

Learners without a technological background – such as those with an undergraduate degree in the social sciences – can still consider this program, thanks to the ALIGN program, which offers an onramp to the degree for those without the tech background that’s typically required.

Students also earn real-world experience through a capstone project, along with numerous co-op opportunities while studying for this degree. Graduates will join a vast alumni network of people who work at Cigital, Akamai, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, MITRE, Partners Healthcare, government agencies, and many other organizations.

Having done extensive research meeting with key employers in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond, we recognize the solid need for this program, and we invite you to review the specifics of the degree here.
