Facilities

The laboratory grounds of the six-hectare Bocas del Toras Research Station are on the shore of Almirante Bay, and are surrounded by tropical vegetation. A fleet of incredibly well-maintained small boats is available for class diving trips, and there are kayaks available for use in the backreef.

A state-of–the-art, environmentally friendly laboratory building contains teaching and research labs, office space, and a storeroom.

Accommodations

The dormitory is located on well-kept grounds planted with a variety trees and other tropical vegetation. Each room houses six people, and housekeeping occurs on a weekly basis. Bathroom and shower facilities are located in the dormitory. This building is located near the waterfront and also has a large kitchen, with a pleasant dining and common area. Three family-style meals are served in the dining hall each day. Laundry facilities are located nearby on the lab grounds.
