Description

Group leader(s): Professor Mira Cantor, m.cantor@neu.edu

The Burren College of Art provides an alternative experience for the particular student who seeks focus and space to develop his own work in painting, drawing, photography or environmental sculpture in their own studio. The Burren is a place of natural beauty that is comprised of glacial limestone hills that sweep down to the sea on Galway Bay. It is an unusual place that inspires ones creative instincts and breathes freshness into students' work. The experience is intense and demanding. During the first week there are structured assignments, hikes, lectures, and tours that familiarize students with the environment. The last three weeks students work on the development of an art project which is critiqued regularly. On weekends students are taken on group trips or go off on their own. Students receive 8 credits for this experience. There are two instructors from Northeastern University and 14 students.
