TEN450U: Strategic Entrepreneurship

Course Description:

Successful technological entrepreneurs know how to relate to people with different types of knowledge and experience. One program goal is to teach the art of collaboration, which is key to turning new technology into marketable products and services. This course will help students develop skills collaborating across disciplinary boundaries, while evaluating the technological feasibility and marketability of new idea.

Students will form teams and choose between a number of ideas for their project. Ideas may originate with students, faculty or industry and be presented to students. After choosing an idea, the student teams will begin engineering and market analyses. Data collected from this work will be compiled and used to generate a business plan. Former course work in STE will provide students with the necessary prerequisites. Complete business plans will be presented at the end of the semester to an audience of students and faculty from STE.
