| g-Book |
Digital Media |
Initially, gBook
was an ultimate solution/device for the student where all their classroom needs are encompassed in a single
device. The device can read digitized versions of books where the students can highlight, take notes, make
summaries and even edit texts. The student can also access blackboard and other classroom and course
material that is required for a class. To sum it up, it is a handheld device that enables users to
interact with e-books in a manner similar to textbooks.
Now, the market has changed drastically with the launch of six different strong competitors. New concepts
have been commercialized in the fields of displays and various interfaces. So, the team has come up with
four distinct paths that the gBook can take. The paths have their own pros and cons and hence forth need
to be discussed.

| BioChip |
BioTech |
The Biosensor is a nano
technology based chip with multiple trenches that can be loaded with components (e.g., antibodies) that will
attract different biomarkers in the body fluid or tissue. The sensor is used in vivo to test for small
quantities of biomarkers. The initial target for the Biosensor will be in oncology with a focus on predictive
or prognostic biomarkers initially, then a focus on early diagnostic tumor biomarkers.
Biosensor Chip’s benefits
could include:
- High Sensitivity and Specificity
- Monitors patients in remission
- Identify Biomarkers
- Early detection of multiple cancers
- Routine test on the yearly physical
examination
- Low Cost compared to current cancer
detection methods

| Stroke Rehabilitation Device |
Engineering |
The Stroke
Rehabilitation Device, SRD, is a computer controlled electro-mechanical device that is to be used for
hand rehabilitation of stroke patients. The device provides a number of complex hand motions: grasp,
release, twist, push and pull. Under computer control, the device can either provide force or guidance
to the patient’s hand. This is the unique intellectual property in the project.
The device will be packaged with a computer as a system. Patients will do their rehabilitation by
playing simple games individually or in a group. Initially patients will do their rehabilitation in
a rehabilitation facility. A future derivative product may be developed for patient use at home.
With this product, therapists will assist patients over the Internet.
This device has the promise to significantly reduce the rehabilitation time for stroke patients
and the corresponding time by required by the physical therapist. This promise needs to be quantified
by patient testing.

| AIOSPAR |

AIOSPAR
(All in One Signal Processing Analysis Resource) is a company that makes portable, inexpensive,
electronic test and measurement equipment for undergraduate students, who have limited access to
university labs and whose learning experience would be significantly enhanced with our equipment.
Currently, students spend the vast majority of their time studying the theory and mathematics of
electrical engineering and only a very limited amount of time in a lab setting understanding the
application of these principles. Our first product, ready for alpha test in May 2009, will be
available to students for little more than the price of an expensive textbook and bring the
electronic equipment out of the lab. Our device works in conjunction with a student’s laptop or
desktop computer, allowing them to perform lab work anywhere they choose.
