Sport in Society and the MIAA are using the power and appeal of sports to tackle the issue of bullying head-on at The Role of Athletics in Deterring Bullying and Encouraging Respect Workshops. From Cape Cod to the Berkshires, student athletes are role models and central figures in their high schools. Capitalizing on their position of influence, the event will train them to create a bully-free culture in their schools by inspiring and empowering other young people to also work for change.  Rooted in the bystander approach to education, these workshops raise awareness about the severity of bullying in our schools, open dialogue among the student leaders, challenge their thinking, and inspire their leadership in preventing the devastating effects bullying has on young lives.
