The Center for the Study of Sport in Society believes that when leaders have the appropriate awareness, organization, and tools, they have the capacity to leverage the immense resources and status of sport to implement innovative and impactful solutions that will help solve the unique problems facing underserved communities around the globe.
We are not alone in this belief; over the course of our 30 year history, an entire field has developed at the grassroots and professional levels using sport to create safe, healthy and inclusive environments. However, this growing movement is calling for greater coordination, resource building and professional development for its expanding body of emerging leaders.
Our new social impact model will therefore focus on training and education for emerging leaders in sport, as well as capacity building for organizations looking to achieve a greater social impact through sport.
Our clarification of focus will enable us to better leverage our 25 year history and recognizable brand and our position within a rapidly expanding university to support the developing field, while capitalizing on the immense resources of the sports industry to make a profound and scalable social impact.
