Vivek Arora
Vivek Arora joined the University Chaplains team in spring 2011 as the Baptist Chaplain on campus. He was born and raised in New Delhi, India in a Hindu family. His search for the truth and multi-religious research led him to follow the Christian faith in 1994, when he left his Gymn business to serve God as a full-time vocation.
Vivek is a PhD candidate in New Testament Textual Criticism at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds a Master of Theology degree from the same institution. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from the International School of Theology- Asia in the Philippines (now AGSL) and Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography (honors) from Delhi University.
Vivek has been an ordained Baptist minister since 2006. He served with Campus Crusade for Christ from 1995- 1999 in North India, has taught in a Bible college, and has served in Chinese, Korean, and American churches. He also worked as a research assistant at the Center for New Testament Textual Studies from 2004-2009. At Northeastern, he serves as spiritual advisor to the Christian Student Union group.
Vivek is also planting a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and non-religious Christian church in the area of Harvard University. He is passionate about textual and theological research, and uses the outcome of his research to help college students and young professionals develop an intimate relationship with God. He believes that through this connection they can achieve a higher level of spirituality and find meaning and purpose in their lives. Vivek is married to Manisha Arora and they have two teenage children.
