The Sacred Space
After a fire destroyed the University's Bacon Memorial Chapel in 1996, a new area— with an award-winning design — was created within the same space on the second floor of the Ell Building. Dedicated in October 1998, The Sacred Space is an open, warmly lit and simply furnished area. It offers an atmosphere of peace, a sense of the holy and a refuge for prayer, contemplation or meditation. Designed for multifaith use, the Sacred Space is a truly inclusive area in which the needs of many spiritual and religious traditions are taken into account.
