  • SGS peer tutors are committed to increase cooperation among tutors, students, and instructors.
  • SGS peer tutoring enhances students’ academic experience but cannot replace classroom learning.
  • SGS peer tutors are trained to recognize and respect differences in culture, race, and gender and promote peaceful interactions among our students on campus.
  • SGS tutoring sessions are confidential.
  • SGS faculty monitors all walk-in tutoring services.

Helpful hints

  • When scheduling a tutoring appointment, complete all necessary forms.
  • Make every effort to keep all tutoring appointments.
  • Arrive for tutoring sessions prepared and on time.
  • Communicate effectively your needs to the peer tutor.
  • Ask questions.
  • See your instructor as frequently as possible.
  • Treat with respect those with whom you come in contact.
  • Schedule appointments with several peer tutors if necessary, until you find one who works best with you.
  • Provide feedback to your peer tutors.
  • Complete an evaluation form at the end of each quarter.
  • Remember that your opinion is very important to us.
