Mechanics of Fretting, Including History-Dependent Friction
D. Hills, University of Oxford
G. Adams, Northeastern University
The area of fretting fatigue is extremely important in many application areas. Fatigue cracks frequently initiate from clamped or bolted connections which are subjected to oscillatory loading. Very closely related to the analysis of fretting is the general area of history-dependent friction. The aim of this symposium is to bring researchers together to discuss recent advances and future needs in these areas, including analytical and/or experimental investigations.
