Mechanical behaviors of materials can considerably vary when they are subjected to rapid deformation. Understanding dynamical mechanical properties of materials altered by a combination of high-strain-rates and high-strains is not only important for fundamental materials science but critical for the development of aerospace, defense, manufacturing, and materials engineering. Topics of this symposium are dynamic mechanical characteristics of polymers, metals, ceramics, and biological materials.
