Service-Learning (S-L) is a form of experiential learning involving partnerships between faculty-led academic courses and community-based organizations. Through these partnerships students engage in hands-on service roles and projects by which they learn about and apply course concepts while intentionally addressing the needs/interests identified by our community partners.
NEW! – Attention Community-Based Organizations: Partner through Service-Learning!
The Service-Learning Program is excited to announce its Request for Partnerships for the 2009-2010 academic year.
We are seeking community-based organizations to host student service-learners for the fall 2009 and/or spring 2010 academic semesters to support you through service roles, projects or research in addressing relevant needs and interests of your organization and community that can simultaneously support their ability to learn about and/or apply what they would otherwise only study in a textbook.
Please visit the For Community Partners section of our website to learn more about partnering through S-L. Applications are due by noon on Friday, July 17, 2009.
Sign up for the Service-Learning Newsletter! To receive the S-L newsletter via email, please contact service-learning@neu.edu. Take a look at the Service-Learning Newsletter for February 2009 and final highlights, announcements, and reflections from the Spring 2009 semester.
