I feel very fortunate to have gotten involved with SEI after my freshman year through the field study to the Dominican Republic in 2011, followed by my enrolment in ENTR 2206: Social Entrepreneurship, the South Africa Field Study Program, and ENTR 3301: Impact Investing.

Born and raised in Mexico City I was very enthusiastic when I heard that my high school alma mater, Tecnológico de Monterrey (TEC), had a new major in social entrepreneurship, or as they call it “emprendimiento cultural y social”.
On Saturday November 8, we had the honor of representing the Social Enterprise Institute Student Association at Harvard’s Igniting Innovation Summit on Social Entrepreneurship, the largest undergraduate-run conference on social innovation in the world.
“Investments can have more than just financial returns” was the key theme for the 2014 Social Enterprise Conference at Columbia University.
“Millennials Rising” sits as the subheading to “2014 Columbia Social Enterprise Conference” on large signs scattered throughout the Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Square. Large round tables are set up in the ballroom, each with a sign for education, social enterprise, health, food and sustainability, and environment.
