Exciting news from our partner institution in South Africa, the Tertiary School in Business Administration (TSiBA): a top scholar graduating this year, Tinashe Munyuki, has been awarded the prestigious Mandela Rhodes Scholarship for postgraduate study.

Competing against more than 8,000 applicants from more than 20 countries in Africa, Tinashe is one of 60 student recipients of the Class of 2017. Tinashe says, “I appreciate such a wonderful opportunity. It is an honor to receive the news.” The selection criteria includes a commitment to the four principles of Education, Reconciliation, Leadership and Entrepreneurship.

Tinashe will be attending the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in Cape Town, South Africa in the Honors Program in Business Management. Tinashe hails from a rural area of Zimbabwe and came to South Africa to go to TSiBA to get his Bachelor’s in Business Administration. He says, “TSiBA provided me an opportunity not only to study but also to gain leadership skills.” Tinashe has been a leader at TSiBA in and outside the classroom in a variety of ways, including student body president in 2014.

Tinashe was an outstanding student in the 2015 NU-TSiBA program and made many lasting friendships with Northeastern students on the program. Everyone at SEI extends our warmest congratulations!
